Dedication MR. JOHN TOOMEY Tl 3 Class of 1970 and the Editorial Staff dedicate this edition of the SIREN to Mr. John Toomey. For our two years of junior high school and for the past four years of high school. Mr. Toomey has been more to us titan just a teacher and a coach. Working in his capacity as our class advisor. Mr. Toomey has proven himself to us as a close friend and a constant source for guidance. There is no doubt that this dedication to him is our humble way of saying thanks to a man that we will long remember. Jn JKemoriam Is it too small a thing To have laughed in the sun To have roamed light in spring To have loved To have thought To have done. -Sue Blodgett The Senior Class dedicates this page of our SIREN to Miss Susan Blodgett. Because her untimely death has affected all of us, we feel that this page will honor her for everything she has done for us. She was not only a teacher, but also a close advisor to students and a friend to all. Even though her length of stay with us was only a few years, she will belong remembered for her friendly smile and her warm heart. Sue Blodgett is truly missed by all who knew her. Ccfitors EDITOR Carol Smith CguU c L We, the Class of '70 hope that our presentation of the SIREN will bring to you a recollection of all activities and special moments ofourhigh school days. At our first meeting, the class selected as our officers: Tom Duffy, President; Tony Flores, Vice-President; Eileen Burke, Secretary; Ray Fuller, Treasurer; Sean Hayes, Student Council. Since we were freshmen, the only event of the year was the sale of magazines which was very successful. The following year we returned to Fort Edward High School as Sophomores. This year, we chose Chuck Arcuri, President; Michael Benware, Vice-President; Tim Hendricks, Secretary; Wesley Bishop, Treasurer; Robert King and Eileen Burke, Student Council. During this uneventful year, we succeeded in breaking tradition by not having the annual Sophomore Dance. The next time we came to Fort Edward High School we were Jolly Juniors. To lead us through our Junior year, we elected Ed Brablc, President; Jim Godfrey, Vice-President; Steve Williams, Secretary; Tom Duffy, Treasurer; Sean Hayes and Robert King, Student Council. We received our class rings in December, right on schedule. Because of the demolition of the gym for the new cafeteria, we had to break the tradition of having our prom in die gym. Instead, the annual event was held at the Queensbury Hotel in Glens Falls. It provided a beautiful setting for this important occasion. Highlighting this event, the Junior girls elected Jim Godfrey as King, while the Junior boys elected Eileen Burke as Queen. In addition, the Queen's court consisted of Jeannie Gorham, Theresa Skelton, Cindy Caruso, Claire Evanico, Kathy Blake, and Brenda Farnsworth. The atmosphere provided by the Queensbury made this Prom one which we will never forget. Finally, we arrived at our destination as sophisticated seniors. First, we elected class officers: Ed Brablc, President; Tom Duffy, Vice-President; Debbie Harper, Secretary; Jim Godfrey, Treasurer; Brenda Farnsworth, Robert King and Sean Hayes, Student Council. With great anticipation, we awaited our first meal in the new cafeteria and having gym classes in the new gymnasium. In February, we presented our senior play, Lights Out” directed by Mr. Kilrain and assisted by Mr. Clark. Starring in the feature roles were Kathy Blake, Theresa Skelton, Jim Godfrey, Celinda Ives, Cheryl Roods, Ronald Fish, Debbie Harper, Tony Flores, Jim Caputo, Geri Anderson, and John Dragon. The play was a big success. Because of the new ruling, the Washington trip was not held this year. During the last day of school, we celebrated Moving Up Day as Grand Old Seniors. Prior to graduation, we were entertained at the Senior Banquet and the Alumni Banquet. Finally on Graduation Day, we left Fort Edward High School, but we will never forget all the wonderful times we have had during our four years at F. E. H. S. We seniors would like to express our thanks to our advisors: Mr. LaSarso, Mrs. Holbrook, Mr. Quattrocchi, Mr. Toomey, Miss Canavan, Miss Etu, and Miss Mulcahy. Our Mistress of Ceremony and her escort ( ' ass of 1970 ffolds fe union The Class of 1970 held their 10th year class reunion last Saturday night. Arrangements for the reunion were formulated by Theresa Skelton, Eileen Burke, Celinda Ives, Cindy Caruso, and Linda Weatherwax, who are all happily married and residing in Fort Edward. We were pleased to find that everyone could attend. Wesley Bishop and Phil Mandolare, members of the U.S. Ski Team, just flew in from Europe where they were both Gold Medal winners in the Winter Olympics. They compared notes with Pat Mullen and Mike Nadeau who are members of the Gore Mountain Ski Patrol. We were proud to hear that Dick Chamberlain is now the manager of the Grand Union, Kathy Blake and Pete O 'Sick are part owners of the Country Dollar, and Mike Suprenant is now owner of Savage’s Superette. Also, John Hart is manager of Stewart's. Gerilynn Anderson, John Dragon, and Debbie Harper are presently starring in Lights Out on Broadway. In the sports department, Russ Snowball and John Annala are now starters for the New York Knicks. Mike Tripp, John Haley, Art Cassant, Chuck Arcuri, and Tom Duffy are all playing on pro football teams. They came in on the same plane with the new Goldie Hawn from LAUGH IN. our own Susie Smith! A welcoming committee at the airport consisted of Gary Dixon, now head of Hudson Falls GE; Ray Fuller, owner of Bromley Imports; Claire Evanico, who recently returned from Switzerland with the International IBM; and Brenda Farnsworth who presently heads the Biology Dept, at FEHS. We also celebrated the return of Bob King, Paul Smith, and Steve Williams, managers of the National Champions, the Vagabonds. They were accompanied by John Matochik, National Scout Master. From other parts of the state came Ed Brablc, English professor at Yale; Jim Ca-puto, who now lives in Greenwich Village; Carol Smith, editor of the New York Times, along with Mike Benware, in charge of her advice column; Cathy Middleton, who just gave her first concert at Lincoln Center; Phil Caruso and Will Lemery who own a hunting resort in the Adiron-dacks; and representing the U.S. Air Force, Larry Jenkins. Also attending the reunion were Donnalynn and Preston Pratt, who have started a photography shop. Our two motorcycle racers, Sean Hayes and Tim Copeland came with Spider' Donbeck, who runs a pool hall in Fort Edward. After them arrived Ron Fish, who arranges receptions for weddings, and Dick Lemery and Tony Flores, who are co-owners of the Edco Gasoline Company. In charge of the entertainment was Mike Mandolare, who runs Mandy's Taxi, assisted by Leo Russell and Dave Geroux, mechanics at a local garage; Jim Godfrey, Gym Teacher at FEHS; Cheryl Roods, teaching typing; and Cheryl Hilfinger, an elementary teacher, along with Richard LaVigne as the new vice-principal. Other alumni were Jean Gorham, who runs a secretarial agency; Rose Shaw, church organist and soloist; and Debbie Lewis and Patty Lewis who run a local beauty shop. One highlight of the evening was the unfolding of a new automobile developed by Alan Belden and Anthony Catone, and the newest motorcycle by Mike Murray.
