I 61 Dedication The Senior Class of 1967 dedicates this edition of our yearbook, The SIREN, to Mr. Paul Sheehan, a man who has acted not only as our teacher, but also as our class advisor, our coach, and our friend. This publication is only a small token of our appreciation for all his kindness, patience, and considerations in the affairs of the Senior Class. In Appreciation ns MR. C. ARCHIE HOPKINS The Class of 1967 wishes to join with the entire student body and the faculty of Fort Edward High School in extending our appreciation for all the years of service given by Mr. Hopkins for the benefit of the public schools in Fort Edward. Mr. Hopkins came to Fort Edward in 1928 as an Industrial Arts teacher and two years later went to the Hendrick Hudson High School in Montrose. New York. Returning in 1943 to Fort Edward High School, Mr. Hopkins was appointed supervising principal and has held that position since. Since Mr. Hopkins is an avid sports enthusiast, enjoying hunting, skiing, and photography, we know his retirement will be long, happy, and enjoyable. The Staff hopes that this publication will bring him many fond memories of his years at Fort Edward High. -The Editorial Staff The Senior Class would like to devote this section of The SIREN to the memory of Eddie Smith. Eddie was a friend and companion to many of us and is missed by all. In Memoriam EDDIE SMITH We, the Class of 1967 wish to commemorate this page of our yearbook to David Gates. Since the routine of high school was new to us, we chose as class officers: Peter Miles, president; Shirley Benware, vice-president; Craig Roods, secretary; Janet Bruce, treasurer; and Christine Caruso represented us in the Student Council. Our biggest project this year was the annual selling of magazines which increased our treasury a great deal. The following year, as sophomores, we chose to lead us: Peter Miles, president; Roger Delano, vice-president; Patricia Davis, secretary; Janet Bruce, treasurer; and Holly Gates and Ed Borix as our Student Council representatives. The big event for us this year was our Sadie Hawkins dance which proved to be both a social and financial success. As excited juniors, the first accomplishment was the election of class officers. We elected: Peter Miles, president; Stephen Sheehan, vice-president; Patricia Davis, secretary; Janet Bruce, treasurer; and Roger Delano and Margaret McCarty as our Student Council representatives. Impatiently, we awaited the arrival of our class rings in early December. The main event this year was our Junior Prom. Under the direction of Margaret McCarty, our gym was decorated to the theme Over The Rainbow. With a colorful rainbow as the background, it was certainly a beautiful creation. To reign as queen of this lovely setting was Patricia Davis, and as the first elected king, Peter Miles. The queen's court consisted of Janet Bruce, Holly Gates, Christine LaClaire, Margaret McCarty, Lorraine Moore, and Sharon Wible. We were very proud of the large attendance and the success which came from it. At last we found ourselves as seniors. Again we elected Peter Miles as president; Stephen Sheehan, vice-president; Patricia Davis, secretary; Janet Bruce, treasurer; and Holly Gates, Ed Borix, and Craig Roods as our Student Council members. On December 20, we presented our senior play, Spring Fever , under the direction of Mr. John Kilrain. The annual Senior Ball was held in February and left all those who attended with lasting memories. Anxiously, we awaited the biggest event of all four years of our high school career. After having earned enough money through dues and class projects, we were able to enjoy five days of our spring vacation in Washington, D.C. And now, as we are ready to leave Fort Edward High, we seniors would like to express our sincere thanks to our advisors who have so faithfully helped us these past four years: Mr. Sheehan, Mrs. Hardick, Mrs. Loughlin, Mr. Mullen, Miss Harmon, and Mr. Lewza. Refreshments were provided by Foote’s Food Service, run jointly by Margie and her husband. Phil R. entertained the class on his trumpet with hits from his latest album released by the Joe C, Record Company. Jim and Jane also played a duet with their guitar and clarinet. The gym was artistically decorated by Cheryl S. who is now a prominent interior decorator. Among the distinguished guests present were Steve S., coach of the Notre Dame basketball team, and Ed N., Roger D., Gary H., and Wayne G., partners in a thriving night club in New York City called The Wall. Also present was Skeeter C. who is a test driver employed by Copeland's Motorcycle Co. Top fashion model Andy C. and Tesa D., a French teacher at the Sorbonne, flew in from France for the reunion. Peter M., Mr. America, who acquired his title through Dave P. body building school, gave Tom W. his success secret. TeenaC., DaveS., and Judy C., large share holders in the Grand Union, discussed the ups and downs of the stock market with Linda A., Verna S., and Linda D., managers of department stores. Johnny N. and Dick B., who finally gave up their paper route to deliver milk for Himelricks Dairy Farm, and Debbie V., owner of a very successful newspaper stand on Broadway, right next to Bruce's Dry Cleaners, were among the local people who attended. Mary Ellen and Cindy L. flew in from Germany where their husbands are stationed. Fannie and Jackie were able to leave their baby chicks long enough to come. Other guests included Joe D. and Bill L. who recently appeared on Passport to Adventure to tell of their big game hunt in Africa. Sandy P., recently employed by Good Housekeeping Magazine, writing weekly articles, and Becky P., who is now National Chairman of The Girl Scouts, discussed the new look in Girl Scout Uniforms. Shirley L., Lynne S., Marlene W., Andrea B., and Mary M., successful secretaries for big business firms, were busy talking about their former business teachers. Janis T., proprietor of the Reliable Babysitting Service, and Ken B. and Danny B., owners of a successful hot dog stand near the high school, discussed arrangements with Ed B. and John B., business managers of the Vagabonds, about placing an ad in the program for the National Drum Corps Competition to be held here next month. Shirley B. told some of the former cheerleaders all about the National Cheerleaders Camp she holds each summer. Lorraine M. got together with some of the other teachers and talked over the problem of disciplining students. Donna G. and Cherie W., who together have perfected a formula for natural blonde hair, informed Terry W. of their progress. Pete I. and Steve O., who play basketball for the Ft. Ed. Semi-pro team, discussed sports with Craig R., a college coach. Mark C. discussed plans with Mary Ann I. to install some of her IBM computors in the Co. where he is business manager. Joan B., appeared modeling one of the fashions that can be found in her new clothes store for petite women. Holly G. talked her into placing an order for the new line of dickies her Co. is making. Colleen M., who has settled down to one guy, and Chris L., a happy housewife, reminisced about old times and complained about the rising food prices. All in all everyone had a wonderful time.
