Gfass Jfisiory As soon as school opened in the fall of 1962, we began the start of our high school career. Being Freshmen, our activities were somewhat limited. At our first class meeting, we elected our officers: Brian Amorosi, president: Richard York, vice-president: Helena Ives, secretary: Linda DeLano, treasurer; and Harold Stoughton, Student Council Representative. The following year, we returned as Sophomores, with the following for our class officers: Robert Davis, president: Bill Cronkhite, vice-president: Jack Duffy, secretary: Linda DeLano treasurer; and Richard York and Louise Quattrocchi Student Council members. Our biggest event that year, the Sadie Hawkins Dance, was well attended, and helped our treasury a great deal. Our Junior year found us more excited than ever. The first thing we did was to elect our officers: Pat Hayes, president; Colleen Brady, vice-president: Louise Quattrocchi, secretary; Linda DeLano, treasurer; and Jack Duffy and Bob Davis Student Council Representatives. Anxiously, we waited for our class rings which arrived just before Christmas. The highlight of the year was the Junior Prom held on May 22. Under the direction of Colleen Brady, we decorated the gym to the theme of Twilight Time. Louise Quattrocchi reigned as queen and chose Bob Miles as her king. Her court consisted of Colleen Brady, Karen Brunelle, Linda DeLano, Beth Gilman, Helena Ives, and JoAnn Smatko. Finally, we found ourselves as Seniors. Bob Miles was elected president with Skip Stoughton, vice-president; Colleen Brady, secretary; Linda DeLano treasurer; and Richard York, Jack Duffy, and Bob Davis as Student Council Representatives. Keeping the traditional atmosphere, the Senior Christmas Assembly helped to convey the holiday spirit to the student body. On January 14, the Senior Play, The Jury Room, under the direction Of Mr. John Kilrain, was presented and was a great success. In February, the annual Senior Ball was held. The evening filled the many Seniors attending with long lasting memories. At last all our class projects helped to enable us to spend five days in Washington during our Easter vacation. The rest of the year was filled with waiting anticipation for our graduation exercises. The Senior and Alumni Banquets, Moving-Up Day and Commencement culminate our endeavors for the past four years. We Seniors of the class of 1965 wish to extend our appreciation to our class advisors; Mr. Ross, Mr. Kilrain, Mr. Davis, Miss Cain, Mrs. Sholes, and Mrs. Rutledge whose efforts have made our high school years such a success. Senior Snaps Let's get ready. Who has the fox? Senior Shindig What Santa has to go through. Dear Louise: Gfass JJropfiecy I recently took a trip back to F. E. Many of our classmates asked about you, and I was glad to tell them that you were doing well as a French interpreter at the U.N. But, let me tell you how much things have changed. Being the Secretary of the U. S. Treasury, I was warmly welcomed by the town officials. I was pleased to find Pat as mayor, Rudy as town supervisor, Bill C. and Bob M. as trustees, Sandy C. as town clerk, and Skip as tax collector. Broadway is now booming with many new businesses. My first stop was at Tick's dry cleaners. As I talked with her, I learned that Sally and Beth are now living in Saratoga. While I was there, Gary S., head director of the Vagabonds, came in to have uniforms cleaned. I was happy to hear that the Vagabonds are quite successful under the direction of Mike H., Dick I., and John L. I inquired about other classmates and found out that J. Doty, B. Doty, J. Durller, and Paul L. are now game wardens in our State Parks. Sandy P. is modeling in N.Y.C., and Dave F. and Bob Tyler are giving concerts with the Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra. As I progressed along Broadway, I noticed a record shop operated by JoAnn, and a roller skating rink owned by Cherly and Loretta. Muldoon and Donald are partners in the Country Dollar, and Brian owns the Grand Union. Diane M. has started an insurance agency for accident prone people, and she employs Helena, Jeannie, Donna, and Linda E. as secretaries. I visited a successful beauty salon operated by Karen, Darlene, and Elizabeth. Collier's Funeral Home is next to the Post-Star Office now owned by Ralph and Mike C. I just saw Phil going into Nicholson's Feed Store. He told me that Linda B. and Carol J. are running a taxi service, and Jack D., Dan B., and Bill O., are racing at Indianapolis. As I passed Doyle's Beanery, I met Ray and Bob T., who are accountants in the bank. They told me that Fred G. is now a National Scout Master. While I was going into the High School, I bumped into the new ambassador to Rome, Bob P., who told me that Herky, Bob D., Joe C., and Murray B. are playing professional football. My last visit was with Berle, the principal at F.E.H.S., and some of his faculty. I was delighted to have the opportunity to chat with Frances, the art teacher, Saul, the music teacher, and Tweetie, ” the girls' gym teacher. I hope our class has a chance to get together soon. It would be nice to see everyone again. As always. Linda Strike up the band with Smitty. Tick” and What’s it?” give out a tune. There is a Santa Claus!! Go on to College? Learn a trade? Get a job? Join the Service or the Peace Corps? You have many choices, but remember: your High School diploma is not a one-way ticket to success. It's only an indication that you have learned the basic skills required to function in our highly complex society. Don't sit back and expect to reap the reward of your years of hard work. Society isn't built that way. There is no such thing as a sure thing . You must take advantage of available opportunities and continue to grow and learn if you expect to better yourself and succeed. Success is predicated on self determination and personal initiative — not past accomplishments or diplomas. The future is up to you —- so make your choice a true commencement !
