CLR55 El SIREN EDITOR'S MESSAGE We have published this edition of the 1961 SIREN with the expressed aim of presenting a history of our Class. We have tried to present the grades we went through, the faculty we matched wits with, and the extracurricular activities which added to the development of our personalities. We sincerely hope you will enjoy this edition of THE SIREN. DEDICATED TO ALL THOSE THAT MOLDED US A penetrating truth, the oft quoted line, No man is an island, especially applies to us at this moment in time. Now at the end of our most formative - and therefore, most dependent years, we, the CLASS of 1961, pay devout homage to all those who have had a hand in pushing, praising, and molding us into what we are today. To them, we dedicate THE SIREN of 1961 as a sign of what we were, and all that we hope to become. At the first meeting Donald Amorosi was elected president; Mary Bruce, vice president; Clarence Shaw, secretary; and Michael King, treasurer. We were represented in the Student Council by Nancy Clark. We returned the following year as sage sophomores, piloted by the following: president, Donald Amorosi; vice president, Joyce Bramer; secretary, Mary Bruce; and treasurer, Michael King. Allan Davidson and Carl Quattrocchi represented us on the Student Council. The big event of this year was the Sophomore Hop, which was most successful. The fall of '59 found us closer to our goal. We were now juniors. At long last we were able to wear our Fort Edward High School rings! The highlight of this year was the Junior Prom, held on May 6. To the strains of Blue Hawaii our queen, Mary Bruce, preceded by her attendants Patricia Burch, Jacqueline Carpenter, Diana Horrmann, Do-olores Catone, Mary Carroll, and Carol Caruso, took her place at the throne, where she was joined by her escort, Thomas Gavan. During this year we were ably guided by our officers, Janet Simmons, president; Thomas Gavan, vice president; Joyce Bramer, secretary; and Michael King, treasurer. Our views were expressed in the Student Council by Joanne DelSignore and Carl Quattrocchi. Finally we attained our goal. As sophisticated seniors we elected Joyce Bramer as our president. She was assisted by the vice president, Carl Quattrocchi. Our correspondence and records were handled by our secretary, Carol Caruso, and for the fourth year. Michael King capably managed our finances. Our Student Council representatives were Donald Amorosi, Joanne DelSignore, and Thomas Gavan. The senior play, The Babbling Brooks, ” was presented on December 8, under the direction of Mrs. Story and was a great success. Our senior trip to Washington was finally realized after four years of fundraising projects. Among the sights which we saw were, the Capitol Building, the Treasury Building, and the Washington Monument. Our able class advisors were Mrs. Rutledge, Miss Cain, Mrs. Sholes, Mrs. Story, Mr. Davis, and Mr. Ross. We wish to thank them for their patience, kindness, and wise guidance.
