Class History We entered our first year of high school as timid and green Freshmen in 1955. Although we were limited in our activities, we made the best of everything. Our biggest moment was the Halloween Dance which was very successful. The class officers were: President, Dick Cameron; Vice President, Pete Sharpe; Secretary, Steve Harrington; and Treasurer, Wayne Trombley. Our Student Council member was Mary Brady. We roared into our Sophomore year with Dick Cameron, President; David Esperti, Vice President; Steve Harrington, Secretary; and Mary Anne Aurelia, Treasurer. Steve Hopkins was elected our Student Council member. As Sophomores we were allowed to participate in extracurricular activities which made others take notice of us. In 1958 as big Juniors we elected the following officers: President, Dick Cameron; Vice President, Ed Healy; Secretary, Dave Esperti; Treasurer, Steve Harrington; and Student Council, Linda Bascom and Mary Brady. Our Junior year was marked with two big events in our life. The highlights of the year were our rings and the Prom. Thanks to the ring committee consisting of Dick Cameron, Dick Tougas, Bill McCarty, Mary D'Angelico, Anne Bowe and Dave Catone for selecting a beautiful and cherished remembrance of Fort Edward High. May, 1958 gave us our most treasured moment--the Junior Prom. The theme for the big occassion was Velvet Waters. Under the co-leadership of Bill McCarty and Dick Montgomery the gym was decorated very beautifully. For this special event, Mary Brady was elected our queen with Linda Bascom, Pat Carroll, Lorraine Kegan, Pat Cook, Lynda Lewis, and Mary D’Angelico as attendants. Dave Esperti was the queen's escort. Entering our Senior Year with an air of superiority, we immediately started making plans for Washington. Selling Christmas cards, candy, a turkey raffle aided us in acquiring enough funds to see us through the trip. We will never forget those cake and candy sales during the football season, either. On December 3, our Senior play Good Housekeeping was presented on the stage. Under the direction of Mrs. Story, the event was well attended. The thanks go to the stars” of the production namely Steve Hopkins, Peg Feingold, Linda Bascom, Mary D'Angelico, Mary Anne Aurelia, Bill McCarty, Ed Quattrocchi, Jim Davis and Lorraine Kegan. Easter vacation found us basking in the southern sun in Washington, D. C. The trip was an inspiration to all. The Washington Monument, the Capitol, the friends we made will be remembered for a long time. The class of '60 selected the following: President, Dave Esperti; Vice President, Dick Cameron; Secretary, Mary Brady; Treasurer, Joan Bennett; and Student Council, Steve Hopkins, President; Bruce Hall, Ed Healy. The success of the Class of '60 goes to our hard working and devoted teachers. We wish to express our personal thanks to our class advisors: Mrs. Bollman and Miss Shea, co-chairmen, and their assistants Miss Hanna, Miss Fitzpatrick, Mr. Cummings and Mr. Clark. Occupying third place in the Northern Conference, the Flying Forts again represent the area in the Sectionals at Saratoga. An impressive team, boasting of an eight and six record, the fighting five of Coach Lewza brought the fans to their feet many a time during the 1959-60 season. Behind the sharpshooting of Butch Shaw, a leader in the conference scoring, and the brilliant offensive play of Dick Cameron and A1 Davidson, the team amassed an overall record of 10-6 for the year. Mike Ward and Bill McCarty teamed together under the boards for superb defensive work. When the extras were called upon, Coach Lewza had seniors Dave Esperti, and Bob Cicero plus Dave Sanderspree, Tom Gavan and Bill Etu ready for action. The highlights of the year were the games against St. Mary's, Whitehall, and So. Glens Falls. All eyes are upon Fort Edward’s Flying Forts to repeat as the Class D. Champion of Section II where they will meet such outstanding teams as Berne-Knox and Cambridge. Fort's Juniors FIRST ROW: Coach Toomey, T. Quattrocchi, J. Flowers, F. Munoff, B. Viele, S. Roberts, W. The Junior Flying Forts gave the 1959-60 basketball season the necessary thrills and excitement to make the game interesting. The Juniors played their best in each game and ended the season on the losing end with four victories in sixteen games. The highlight of the season was during the Glens Falls game with the score 42 all and two minutes to play. The Juniors playing against-superior height were beaten by the Indians, but the thrill of the game will be remembered. Coach Toomey had Tom Brady, Mark Ives, John Bowe, Mike Pickett and Bill Etu ready for each game. The reserves which showed plenty of potentiality were most impressive with Steve Roberts, Bob Cameron and Tommy Quattrocchi leading the way. Baseball FIRST ROW: E. Quattrocchi, P. Sheehan, D.
