Best Natured — ...........--------------------Tidd, T. 1953's CLASS HISTORY FRESHMAN YEAR We began our long, eventful high school career as daring, ambitious, little Freshmen. For our first event of the year we elected class officers. Our president was Tom Carpenter, Vice President, Pat King, Secretary and Treasurer, Dorothy Casini. Representing us in Student Council was Phil Trombley. Our class advisors for this year were Mr. Leonard and Miss Cain. SOPHOMORE When the year 1951 came into sight, all of the green Freshmen became big Sophomores. This year we chose Bill Cimo as President; next in line was our Vice President, Roger Nichols; Virginia Chilson was elected to handle all our money; our Secretary was Dorothy Casini. Voicing our opinion in Student Council meetings were Joanne Reese and Donald McDonald. Of course, the main thing we, as Sophomores, looked forward to was our Halloween Dance. This affair turned out to be very successful and thus our fund for our Senior Trip was inauguarted. To help enlarge this fund, we sponsored three plays in the Spring of '51. This affair also turned out to be very successful. Our many thanks go to Mr. John Skaden who so capably helped us to present them. JUNIOR Our Junior year began as Junior years usually do - with the selection of officers. Bill Cimo proved to be our very capable President, and Jim Borrowman, his right-hand man, was Vice President. Sue Cutler, our able bodied Secretary, furiously took notes while, last but not least, Dot Casini began begging for our money. Jim Gilman and Dan Havern were the orators representing us in Student Council. Those who diligently watched over us were Mr. Davis, Chairman, Mrs. Mastrovich, Miss Cain and Miss Rourke. Next came that glorious moment in every Junior's life - choosing of class rings, which were gold with a raised insignia. Our Junior Prom gave a final touch to our year’s activities. To the theme of Apple Blossom Time , Bruce Davidson and Virginia Chilson, our king and queen, led the triumphant procession and were followed by their attendants, Sue Cutler, Anne LaClaire, Pat King, Katherine Godfrey, Carmela Munoff, and Dorothy Casini. (continued) SENIOR Our Senior year rolled around even quicker than we had expected. We started the ball rolling as usual by electing officers who were Dick Hopkins, President, Jim Borrow-man. Vice President, our reliable Secretary, Sue Cutler, and once again our moneybegging Treasurer, Dot Casini. Our Student Council Representatives, voicing our all-important opinions, were John Caputo, President, Lola O'Connell, his Secretary, and Mary Stowell. Our Senior play, Curtain Going Up! , proved to be a smash hit! Again our many thanks go to Mr. John Skaden, Director, Mr. Roy Elder, Assistant Director, Miss Marion Rea, Make-up, and Jim Gilman, Student Director. Next on our list of activities came our Christmas Ball which was one of the most eventful occasions that the students have attended during our fruitful years. Then came the goal toward which we had worked hard and strenuously since our Freshman year - that all-exciting dues collecting, pocketbook emptying event, our New York-Washington trip. During our stay at the Hotel Annopolis, the people were quite surprised when they noticed how quiet we were!!! Class night, graduation, and the Senior Ball are cherished events which everyone is now looking forward to as a conclusion to our wonderful days in high school. CLASS POEM We are now leaving Fort Edward High To all our friends we say goodbye. And to our teachers we all say thanks, For guiding us on, in spite of our pranks. From our Freshman year to our Senior Ball We’ve had fun together - one and all. Our classes, the games, and of course our class play We will all remember from day to day. Dorothy Mammone ONCE WE WERE SOPHOMORES The Green-eyed Monster THEN WE WERE JUNIORS Queen King VIRGINIA CHILSON BRUCE DAVIDSON Queen of '52 NANCY LINDSAY ATTENDENTS PATRICIA KING DOROTHY CASINI SUE CUTLER KATHERINE GODFREY CARMELA MUNOFF ANNE LaCLAIRE Crown Bearers EDDY REESE AND NOW WE ARE SENIORS All right! Let’s take that scene from the beginning! Now for the big news! I have the roles all selected! 'Miss Belinda, would you all like some tea and popovers? Oh Jocko, darling! Did he hurt you? But Papa, Randolph will be killed! Here s how it looks in the Jim Borrowman, a perfect girl's make up room! janitor. Offstage clowns! What have we got here? Doesn't Martha look ambitious? That'll teach you! You wise guy, Cimo. Oh Norman, Darling! Curtain Going Up by Gregory Johnston, a comedy in three acts, proved to be a very successful production. The play revolves around the misfortunes of Miss Burgess, the young, new Dramatics teacher, confronted with such problems as a grouchy janitor, the disappearance of the playbooks the first day of rehearsal, some crossed-up romances, a charming young heroine who becomes stage-struck, her bewildered boy friend, a campus actor with a swelled head, the disgruntled athlete feeling out of place as an actor, a flamboyant professional actor with advice, a banker's daughter driven to theft and dirty tricks by her father's ambitions -and perhaps most unexpected of all, a romance for young Miss Burgess herself! Almost everything that can happen does happen. Our thanks go to Mr. Skaden and his capable assistants, Mr. Elder, Miss Rea, and James Gilman. Their excellent work contributed greatly to the success of our annual Senior Play. JUNIORS First row: W. Crowley. C. Cardinale, K. Godfrey, J. Shaw, W. Newell, J. Cimo, R. Savage. Second row: C.
