Roberts George E. Roberts exemplifies the successful modern business man. Eco- nomic Adviser of the National City Bank of New York assisting the presi- dent, Mr. Roberts is a man vital to the nation. Beginning as a printer and progress- ing into news writing, Mr. Roberts finally became owner of the Fort Dodge Messenger. This experience led to his appointment in 1898 as Director of the Mint at Washington, D. C., where he served under five presidents-for a longer term than that of any other director in the history of the govern- ment. He studies economic conditions affecting business, and supervises a monthly publication summarizing and discussing them. WILLIAM S. Kmyorz Education in Ohio public schools, Grinnell College, and the University of Iowa law school preceded Judge Wil- liam S. Kenyon's admittance to the bar and subsequent two terms as Webster County Attorney. A law partnership, the district judgeship, and service as general attorney of the Illinois Central Railroad followed. He was made U. S. Assistant Attor- ney General in 1916, and then United States Senator at the death of Jonathan P. Dolliver. President Harding ap- pointed him as judge of the United States Circuit Court of Appeals for life. He served on President Hoover,s Wickersham Commission for Law Ob- servance and Enforcement in 1929. Two Iowa colleges have presented Judge Kenyon with honorary titles. page nine
