CLASS HISTCRY Freshman In 1954 our class, cons1st1ng of 51 members, met for the fxrst trme Mrs Brown and Mr Schlffer were our sponsors Marrruth Keegan was chosen to preszde as presrdent throughout the flrst year Gary Bartlett was elected vxce presrdent, Larry Oexman secretary Nancy Lalb, treasurer and Jack Foster was to serve as reporter Nancy Lalb and Marrruth Keegan were elected cheerleaders for our Freshman Team Marlruth Keegan and Sara Pyle were our representat1ves on the Student Counc1l We were proud to have Alice Smrth elected Varsrty Cheer leader She wxll serve as cheerleader untll she graduates After the basketball season was ID full swxng, we elected Judy Carter and M ry Ann Hoeflmg as our attendants to the queen Sophomore We started the second year wxth a new member present among us We were happy to welcome Ernest Al drrdge but we were sorry to lose several members Those who were not wxth us th1s second year were Gary Bartlett, Rxchard Gladdmgs and Prrscrlla Deal Mrs Brown and Mr Schlffer were our sponsors Jack Foster was elected presldent, Larry Oexman v1ce presxdent Sara Pyle, secretary Joan Wallls treasurer and Eddre Hacker was to serve as reporter As representatlves on the Student Counc1l, we chose Jack Foster and Sara Pyle Judy Woolston and Sara Pyle were selected as basketball queen attendants Th1s was the year we recerved our class Jackets and rmgs Were we a proud class' Junlor We were happy to keep Mrs Brown and Mr Schlffer as our class sponsors for the thlrd year We chose Eddle Jack Foster was to be reporter We were sorry to lose Don Grles and Eugene Wllkerson but welcomed Joan Weber as a new member to our class Joy I-leurmg and Jack Foster represented our class on the Student Counc1l After the basketball season rolled around, we elected Nancy Laxb and Joan Weber as our basketball queen attendants We selected Sara Pyle and Larry Oexman to represent our class on the Recreatlon Counc1l for t e next two years In October, we presented a three act comedy LOVE IS 1n the AIR We enjoyed g1v1ng rt very much and It proved to be a bxg success In May, we were host to the Semors for the prom lt was held m the McCurdy Student Unxon Burldmg on the Evansvllle College campus We used Danc1ng 1n the Dark' for our theme Thrs was the frrst prom held away from Fort Branch, and rt proved to be a memorable evenmg for all as we danced to t.he muslc of Bland Gayer and hrs band Semor At last we have reached the goal of our hrgh school days We are now d1gn1f1ed semors, a posrtlon we have worked three years for We were very fortunate to keep Mrs Brown and Mr Schxffer as our sponsors throughout all four years Eddle Hacker was chosen to preslde as presldent, Jan Messersmlth, vxce presldent, Joan Wa1l1s secretary Judy Carter, treasurer, and Joy Heurrng servmg as reporter We were sorry to lose John Newton but we were happy to welcome several new members The new members were Stanley Jones, Jane Jones Judy Clark, and Norma Balley We also welcomed Gary Bartlett who had been wxth us before Members on the Stu dent Counc1l were Sara Pyle Jack Foster, Marrlyn Merer Judy Carter George Beloat, Joan Wallls and Joy Heurrng We were happy to have Mary Ann Hoeflrng elected Basketball Queen wlth Phyllrs Schmlts and Sara Pyle as her attendants Our frnal days were spent preparmg for our class play, the trrp to Washmgton D C the prom, the Baccalaureate Servlce, and Commencement Fmal good byes on May 16 1958, brought to an end our hlgh school days 17 . . . . . 9 ' I ' 1 9 S ' a ' . , . , . . .
