Varsity Basketball The Fort Bragg Timberwolves launched their most successful season with an easy 48 to 42 victory over the Fortuna Huskies. The second test for the lNolves came with a 44 to 39 victory over the hard- fighting Greyhounds from Healdsburg. Next the l'Volves outscored the Arcata Tigers, 34 to 23 in a tight defensive battle. The Wfolves picked up two easy victories from their opponents from the south- west, Point Arena and Anderson Valley. Next the Wolves played their former Northwestern League rivals, the Willits Wolverines. The Wolves had an easy time and won 64 to 43. The VVolves met an- other former NWL foe in our arch rivals, Ukiah. The Wildcats were not so wild as the VVolves easily rolled over them 58 to 31. The VV0lves then em- barked on their first roadtrip as they traveled to South Fork. The Cubs put out a top effort, but it 1 i STANDING, Left to Right: Manager. Paul Johnson. Clint Bainbridge. Bill Moo Undefeate was to no avail, as the Wfolves picked up their vic- tory.The Wolves traveled to Anderson Valley where they repeated their live earlier victories and turned back the Panthers, 67 to 49. Then came the tough- est game of the year, a 62-60 thriller over Willits. The Wolverines refused to roll over and dead this time and threw a genuine scare into the lNolves before succumbing. The Hnal game of the 'Wolves regular season was an easy victory for the Wfolves as they put forth their best offense of the year in defeating the Ukiah Wfildeats 72f34. In a post-season tilt, the lfVolves challenged the champions of the North Bay League, the Napa In- dians, The VVolves put out a tremendous effort, but Napa who was behind the last half, managed to put ahead and win by three points, 47 to 44. 116
