Taber Exchange Each year our local Kiwan- is groups sponsor an exchange program between Taber, Al- berta, Canada and Fort Benton. This year, our visiting students left after the Malta Football game and stayed for a week. While there, they observed the two high schools while staying with host families. By actually living with the Canadians, they were able to exchange and learn of customs, language differences, and little things that make the difference between two similar nations. During the stay of our stu- dents in Taber they partici- pated in a variety of activities that had been planned by the hosts themselves, as did we Americans when we were visited. Many friends were made, much was learned, there was fun and suggestions to take back home. Through this exchange of youth, the Sponsors wished to create a better understanding of one another’s homeland and in some way, strengthen the bond of friendship that the two countries share. Being number one is the dream of everyone whether it is the student body, community, team or coach. If this dream dwindles, many things happen to the players and followers. Loss of confidence in one another is prevalent when things are not going the way. we hope it is. Support becomes minimum and finally the team itself gives up. True, losing happened to the Longhorn Basketball team this year, but things that normally happen as I explained above did not happen to the team, student body, and supporters. Spectators at home games became more numerous and the support from the student body became stronger as we ended the basketball season. At the tournament the team nearly pulled the upset of the year against Malta. They tried harder and played their best ball. Credit has to be given to everyone who had faith in them and who honestly believed in them and their school. The basketball season was not all roses from a coaches point of view, but tears mixed with sweat at the tournament was well worth the downs and problems we had during the season. True dedication was quite obvious from the impression I got from most of the players after our last game. Thank you players for giving me this feeling of satisfaction. Winning gives satisfaction to a coach most of the time but dedication means more to me. - Coach Flanagan Junior Varsity A nd Freshmen Basketball Seventh And Eighth Grade Basketball Varsity Action Shots Gymnastics The Gymnastics Girls that took 2nd as a team in State Competition were: Denise Jannsen, Patti Albers, Kathy Jordan, Jill Lehman, Bobbie Vischer, Sherry Jannsen, Sandy Peareon, Cart Gray, Diane Jones, Gail Hampton, Gail Baack and Coach Sam Matthews. 62 Wrestling This year the Longhorn Wrestling Varsity team took third at divisional and sent eight Longnorns to Varsity and Junior Varsity Team members were: A.
