To those who have in the past walked these hallowed halls as students we say, thank-you for setting the highest standards of honor, integrity and service for which this crest stands. Let it be said of the students to come, that they too upheld these traditions of excellence. 2 Roger Axtman practices his artistic talents? A LONG HARD GRIDIRON SEASON The Longhorns compiled a 3-4-1 record during the fall football campaign. The high points of the season were the two shut-out wins over Big Sandy and Cut Bank and the come from behind tie in the Homecoming game. Injuries plagued the Longhorns all season long as both quarterbacks and several other key persone 1 were hurt simultaneously. Longhorns exhibited a strong defense at times but mental lapses cost them many touchdowns. A strong passing attack brought the fans to their feet many times but inconsistency in blocking and backfield execution stopped many drives. Although the record doesn't show it, much effort was put forth both on behalf of the players and coaches to try to bring another success- ful season to FBHS. The Jayvees had a very successful season as the team composed of sophomores and freshmen fought their way to a 4 and 2 record. Despite many talented but green freshmen filling the gaps left by sophomores who gradu- ated to the varsity, the team showed great poise and consistently capitalized on opponents mistakes. A balanced squad with both good offense and defense was highlighted by many sophomores who are sure to be valu- able additions to the varsity next season. Coach Jay Herman J.V. FOOTBALL L, to R. Kerry Anderson won the best individual per- formance at the Variety Show on the uneven parallel bars. The tumbling and trampoline team were well received at Bozeman as they entertained at the Bob- cat-North Iowa State game. These teams also performed at Divisional Tournament and at the Chester-Fairfield playoff game. In competition, the Benton team defeat- ed GFP and CMR in a triangular meet here, and placed second in the return of Great Falls. They placed 5th out of nine at Billings West and 3rd out of 7 at CMR. They defeated Cut Bank in a dual meet and was defeated at Shelby. The team won their own Invitational for the second straight year defeating Helena and Cut Bank. Other activities through the year included eat-ins, group recreation and senior din- ner at the RED LION in Great Falls. With many freshmen members, the Drill Team looks forward to much future success. For the first time in many years the Fort Benton Longhorns had a female counterpart. The girls spent many long hours prac- ticing basketball techniques. Although the season was not en- tirely successful, the team gained much experience which should help them have a victorious season next year.
