ADMINISTRATION mc-- Policy making is done by a lay group elected by the public: they also serve as an advisory body for the superintendent, sup- plying local public direction of your schools. Pictured are: FRED ARNST, chairman, ED PETERSON, INGOLF BIRKELAND, vice chair- man, HALDER M. HANSEN, former clerk, W. T. MORRISON, and LEONARD CRANE. Pictured at the right is BRUCE GILBERT, who was appointed clerk by the board to replace HALDER HANSEN, who served as clerk of the school district one for 17 years, before resigning during this year. Local school officials have also been active in state organiza- tions. In December, 1954, Ingolf Birkeland was elected president of Montana School Boards Association, and William Johnstone completed a term as president of Montana Association of School Administrators in January. 4 BILL JOHNSTONE, M.
