The following week. the l.onghorns made it two in a row by upsetting the strong Conrad Cowboys 12 to 0 at Conrad, despite the rain and mud. Lenington scored both touchdowns. The Baby Bisons became the third team to fall before the Longhorns as they went down to defeat 27 to 0 at Fort Benton. September 25. Hardy. Lenington. The Longhorns' first loss came at the hands of the conference co-champions, the Great Falls Cen- tral Mustangs, 32 to 14 at Fort Benton, October 2. It was the Mustangs' game until the final quarter when the Longhorns scored twice, holding the Mustangs scoreless. On October 8, the Longhorns went to Chinook, only to get their second loss of the season, 26 to 13. Benton drove to the goal several times, early in the game, but could not score. Finally, in the last quarter the Longhorns managed to score twice on long passes, but were unable to catch the Sugarbeeters. At the homecoming game, the Longhoms defeated the Browning Indians, 26 to 6. Fisher and Rag- land picked up fumbles to score, along with Lenington's brilliant running touchdowns. The Longhorns ended the season at Choteau with a 39 to 6 win over the luckless Bulldogs. Len- ington, playing the best ball game of his career, scored five touchdowns for a total of 33 points. The Longhorns ended the season with five wins and two losses. Although they never won any trophies, they were one of the favored teams to beat. These six seniors played their last football game for FBHS: Charles Lenington, Sam Ragland, Dennis Nottingham, Jerry Swett, Jim Renville, and George Col- lins.
