JUNIOR CLASS HISTGRY Thxs year was the turnxng polnt 1n hlgh school for the Junlor class In the two previous years they have always been an act1ve class but the freshman and sophomore years have few scheduled act1v1t1es Last fall thls class entered school as upperclassmen and looked upon hlgh school wlth a new perspectlve Toward sprlng they were very busy with their class play The Whole Towns Talking and the presentatlon of the only formal school dance of the year the Junlor Prom Desplte wartime shortages the gymnaslum was decorated rn a Garden of Memorles theme Melvm Gays orchestra played for the prom The Junlor year opens a new fleld of actlvltles such as Press Club Thesplans Qulll and Scroll and also a new selectlon of courses as commerclal work dramatlcs hlgher mathematlcs and sc1ences Barbara Blrkeland and Lucllle Hanford represented the class In the schools cheerleadmg sectlon Dorothy Dedman edlted the Cannon Report and Jun Whlte was one of the fxrst f1ve on the basketball team The class lost a member when Bob Anderson completed h1s hlgh schoo work ln three years and was graduated thls sprmg JUNIOR OFFICERS Presldent Lee Katzenberger V106 Pres1dent Jlm Whlte Sponsors Mrs Gordon Sullxvan and Mlss Florence Jensen JUNIOR PLAY On March 31 the Junlor class presented the farce The Whole Towns Talklng The play was written by John Emerson and Anlta Loos and dlrected by MLSS Mlldred Glover The story of the play IS as follows 'Vlr SIIIIIIIOIIS 4George Llppertl wants to marry hls daughter Ethel 4Luc1le Hanfoldl to hxs junlor partner ln buslness But Chester Blnney the partner :Stanley Smlthl 18 the klnd of bachelor no woman would want He IS such a blank says Mrs Slmmons that every tlme he comes mto a room lt seems that someone has Just gone out Mr Slmmons has a theory that every woman wants the man that every other woman wants and concelves the plan of lnventlng a few love affalrs for the unromantxc Chester But wlth whom'P From a book shop they select at random some photographs of beautiful women These turn out to be a Queen the Mona Llsa and Letty Lythe the movle star Letty mAnn Katzenbergerr IS selected and the story 15 allowed to leak out In no tlme at all the who e town IS tallung and all the glrls are falhng for Chester left and rlght In the mldst of h1s glory Letty Lythe comes to town accompanied by her flance Donald Swift tLee Katzenbergerl who happens to be a prlze fxghter Then trouble starts for poor old Chester but he weathers the storm Others ln the cast were Mrs Slmmons Barbara Blrkeland Roger Shlelds James Whlte Ann1e the maid Barbara Ellls Lxla Wllson and Sally Otls frlends of Ethel Maman Campbell and Dorothy Dedman respectlvely Mrs Jackson a nelghbor Jeannette Stevens Sadle B oom, a dancer, Florence Breault, and a taxi drlver, Leonard Johnson Y 4. 1 . , 3 .
