THE PIONEER SOPHOMORE CLASS HISTORY We, the Sophomore Class of 1922-23, entered Chouteau County High School as green Freshies on a September morning in 1922. Just as the average Fieshman we got into the wrong classes, were razzed by the Seniors, and finally settled down to work. At the first class meeting the election was held, John Morris wes elected Presidentg Margaret Sharp, Vic-e Presidentg Rena Savage, Secretary and Treasurer, George Reynolds, Class Reporterg and Mr. Madison, Class Adviser. Harold Britton and George Reynolds, two members of the class, attended the Vocational Conference at Bozeman. The trip was a reward for the winners of the stock judging contest. In the declamatory contest the Freshmen ranked among the highest with John Morris winning first place Other contestants of our class were Helen Culbert son Dale Harnish and Margaret Sharp So passed a very eventful year and the Freshmen of 1922 23 became the Sophomores of 1923 24 This fall we came back not quite so green but as fresh as ever Seven mem bers of our former class were missing at the beginning of the year and six new pupils entered at different times during the year The new students were Ruth Adams Vivian Wood Evelyn Pettapicce John Wood Delyne Hoyer and Edith Kmyon When a class meeting was called John Morris was again elected President for a s cond time Helen Culbertson Vice President Ruth Adams Secretary and Treasurer and Mr Madison Class Adviser In athletics the Sophomores made a fine showing John Morris Harold Britton and George Reynolds were substitutes on the football team In basketball John Morris held a position on the team Benton Wilford and George Murray were sub stitutes John Morris George Murray and George Reynolds were on the track team In the Inter class basketball tournament the Sophomore class took a very prominent part They lost onlv to the Seniors At the H1 Jinks given at the Mission Theatre February 5th and 6th the Sophomores presented a one act comedy entitled All in a Lifetime Vivian Wood Edith Kinyon and Margaret Sharp had chorus parts in Miss Cherryblossom the Operetta Ruth Adams was a soloist John Morris held a place on the Annual Staff as Athletic Editor This year we are Sophomores and rather insignificant But next year we will pitstnt the Junior Prom And after that Oh Boy' the Senior Row Margaret Sharp Helen Culbertson '26 PRESIDENT John Morris VICE PRESIDENT Helen Culbertson SECRETAR1 TREASURER Ruth Adams CLASS FLOW ER Red and White Carnation MOTTO Plan Xour Work and Work Your Plan COLORS Blue and White -XDVISOR Nlr Madison f 1 I . - 1 1 ' 1 - ' . .
