The 1980 Cross Country team added a new selection of run- ners. The team split into three categories: varsity, frosh soph, and girls. The varsity had a respectable season. The Forreston Invita- tional was again claimed by Forreston talent. At the Amboy Districts, the team placed eighth, but Steve DeVries placed fourth for sole runner. He advanced to the Woodstock Section- als where he ran in 86th place. The varsity team ran under the four year senior leadership of Darrell DeWoll and Dick Ben- nett. The frosh-soph couldn’t have planned a more perfect sea- son. Winning the Dixon, Mt. Morris, Forreston, Amboy and Oregon Invitationals helped to arouse the Cardinal morale. Furthermore, taking the Mid-Northern Conference gave the team a grand sense of accomplishment. The girl’s team added a new depth to the Cardinal squad. These six runners accumulated an extreme effort which pro- vided them with the Mid-Northern conference title. Seniors: D. DeWall and D. Bennett

HUT ONE HUT TWO The 1980 edition of the Forreston Cardinal football team provided many exciting moments this fall. The over all season results did not reflect the spirit displayed by the varsity players. The team can best be described as being a very coachable. dedicated, and hardworking group of young men. Inexperience was the highest hurdle that had to be conquered but, by the end of the season, some excellent individual records had been achieved. Senior quarterback, Dennis Osterloo, broke all exsisting passing records. Mark DeVries took the total team passing yards for the season.
