Dedication The class of 1958 wlshes to dedlcate th1s nmeteenth volume of the CARDINAL to the mem ory of F P Wlnebrenner who launched h1s 11 lustrlous Engllsh teachlng career 1n our school ln the fall of 1937 the f1rst year for the newly or ganlzed Forreston Communlty I-hgh School He taught here unt1l the spr1ng of 1946 when a chal lenglng call from Sycamore County seat ofDeKalb County took h1m 55 mlles eastward There he taught hugh school Engllsh and coached plays seven ycars In 1953 he was named prmcxpal of a new grade school ln Sycamore At thls post he was strxcken early 1n the mornlng of March Z6 by a fatal heart attack In add1t1on to servmg as a full txme Engllsh teacher durmg h1s mne year tenure at FCHS he also coached great class plays produced top fllght operettas d1 rected h1gh school chorus work led splrlted assembly s1ng1ng andwas aclass ad durmg h1s last two years here He was actlve 1n church and communlty affaxrs excelllng wlth church muslc groups In short the quallty of h1s work and the de votlon he gave to h1s task d1d much to set a h1gh standard for the entlre school a standard that has contmued through the years to pay us good d1Vl dends 1n scholastlc achlevement and character bu1ld1ng The mortal man IS gone but h1S memory l1ves on ln the minds of all those students who sat 1n h1s classes or were ln muslc class plays or other act1v1t1es under h1s dlrectlon We are proud to have had so flne a teacher 1n our school and we are happy to pay thls trlbute to h1s memory We ex press heartfelt sympathy to h1s wldow who IS an elementary teacher ln Sycamore and to the only son who IS now statloned at Fort Knox Kentucky Let us do our work as well Both the unseen and the seen Make the house where gods may dwell Beautlful entlre and clean e Q . u D - , .
