School Board Onne A. DeWall, President 41 if The Forreston Community High School, Dis- trict No. 219, was organized in the spring of 1937. The five board members elected at that time were: Onne A. DeWall, Earl J. Link, Herman Frey, Ea!-1 Edw ard Ackerm an Glen MC Graw Walter Kaney, and Clarence Rademaker. J. E. Fisher was employed to serve as clerk of the board. Two of the original five are still mem- bers: Onne A. DeWall and Earl Link. Oscar Viet- meier has been a member since August of 1940, when he was appointed to succeedClarenceRade- maker, who moved to Polo. Warren Kaney was elected in April, 1948 to succeed his father,Wal- ter, who retired. J. E. Fisher served as clerk until April, 1944, when he retired. Mr. Fisher had served on For- reston School Boards for 44 years, from April 1900 through April 1944. During the last seven years of that remarkable period he served as secretary to both local school boards. B. H. Unangst then served a ten year period as secre- tary. In 1954 Mr. Unangst was succeeded by Gerald R. Duitsman, the present secretary. In 1954 a state law became effective whereby two members were added to make a seven man board. At that April election, Warren Kaney was re-elected to a three year term and two new mem- bers were electedg Paul Moring and Howard Scott. These seven, with the help of the Citizens' Com- mittee and a number of auxiliary committees suc- cessfully guided the work toward a successful election in October, 1954, and the new high school that is now completed. This spring Oscar Vietmeier plans to retire af- ter 18 years of faithful service. These men have given much time and effort to handling the many problems of operating the school.
