Rt-Lt: President- Neil Schaffer V' P .- ice res Mike Maurer Secretary- Mary Gail Davis Treasurer- Kay Anderson Student Council Representatives- Tom Wait Ann Hartman Kathy Koehl Class of 1971 The Class of 71 has many memories of the four years in high school. As green freshmen in 67, they started the first year of no initiation for freshmen. The class of 71 worked very hard on their float in Kinate's garage, mostly on the fabulous tree. During the parade the tree fell down about three times, but the float came up with a third place. The homecoming dance was very exciting for some people like Mr. Schlickman, who had to make the crowns out of paper because they had been misplaced. The king and queen who were able to wear the crowns were Curt Zimmerman and Marilee Davis. The end of the year's activities included prom which was c'An Evening Around the World. The beginning of the sophomore year in 1968, was centered around homecoming activities. This year the class of 71 placed second with their origi- nal float of c'Custer Didn't Have the Eskimos On His Side. The King and Queen of 1968 were Rick Knaurer and Micki Rieger. The Eskimos played the Onarga Indians and won. In sports the Eskimos were V.V. Champs in track, the ,l.V.'s were the V.V. Champs and won own tourney. The theme of the Junior-Senior Prom was Forever This Moment. During the year of 1969, the beginning of the junior year, the class of 71 was able to have colored stones for their rings for the first time in many years. During Homecoming, Mike Trainor and Dawn Feller were crowned king and queen. The Eskimos were undefeated in football and also V.V. Champs in track. The class of 71 decorated the gym for prom activities. It must have been the most beautiful prom because they went in the hole until the end of their senior year. The theme of the prom was HArividerci Roma. Now ends the last year for the class of 71 in high school. The senior year was full of events that many will always have found memories of. During the homecoming week-end, Tom Wait and Candy Terrell were crowned king and queen. The Eski- mos lost their game, but the seniors placed second in their float, c'Looks Like We're Gonna Dunk 'Em, Donut? The cheerleaders won the V.V. cheer- leading trophy at Gilman. All the senior boys will remember the Phantom News, an underground news- paper. The prom, usually held in the gymnasium, was held in Fairbury at the Indian Creek Country Club and the afterprom was also held at Fairbury at the Old Susannah. The class of 71 also started something different at the end of the year, thanks to the class officers. They were able to take a field trip to Springfield. Graduation concludes the year for the class of 71. There will be many fun times to come and also hard times, but the class will always remember the past years. And in following their motto Today Is the Beginning of the Rest of Our Lives, they'll be a success.
