The administration of the three unit schools rests in the capable hands of the seven Board of Education members. The Board of Education spends long hours in working out school policy and settling problems. This year the Board adopted a salary schedule for the teachers. A committee of teachers met with the board several times near the end of the year to smooth out the obstacles and affect compromises. For the first time in history a plan has been adopted, which was satisfactory with both the teachers and the board. Another large project was the landscaping ofthe high school campus. Since the grade school has vacated, the front of the school no longer has to be used as a play- ground. The area in front of the building was smoothed down and sowed with grass. The trees were picked both for their beauty and shade. Sometime in the near future the sidewalk running north and south will also be lined with shrubbery. Although the building is old, it has been made quaint and more attractive by the use of expert landscaping. When the trees and shrubbery are fully grown, the Board, students, and towns people will really have something in which to take pride. Under the leadership of Keith Amstutz, president, the Board handles all situations to the best of its ability. At the spring election, Smart Miller and Lewis Haab were elected to fill the positions of Leroy Kamrath and Vaughn Horine who were not candidates for re-election.
