As the autumn breezes turned into winter winds, 4 the students centered their attention on winter's 3 number one sport, basketball. Coach Berry start- ed the season with three letter men from the AH Gf team and two from the NB' squad. The students as H Q well as the playersf anticipations soared skyward Q' in hopes of a good team, and all in all with the 'Q exception of four or five games, each game was a G7 closely fought contest. As the records show, many 1 games were won or lost by two, three, or four S points. The overall record was nine wins against g eleven losses, but there is more to this record than meets the eye. The major difficulty was the tg sickness that hampered the team throughout the season. Very few games were played with the origi- Q nal starting five. ' 4 Many of the games that were lost could have been either way, but as we say Lady Luck had the el final outcome in her hands. We lost no one this year, so we base our entire hopes on a good team G1 in 1947 in our last futile attempt to have another Q great team in the annals of Fornfe1t's basketball history. We all wish to express our thanks for X the fine and stimulating support shown by students V and fans toward the team. Ga S 6: S 6,- l Gb S Qx BESKETBALL TEAM As basketball fans were 1n a 1ook1ng mood, they could not help but catch slght of the colorful flashy HBH team five Most of their games, too, were fought down to the wire and some had to be carried lnto overtime perlods The HBH squad enter ed the Morley invltatlonal tournament and really ' climbed the ladder After beating Morley and Benton, by Delta in the finals Exerting all they had, they ended with a season's total of thirteen C133 wins against eight C81 losses, They lose one player so they are acknowledging another bright year One might think of the HBH team as being second best, but the records show differently So, in apprecia tion of a Job well done we say, UFollow through with an encore ln 1947 ' A ft . ,, .Q 1?
