G K2 8 ke Q fifth the Mustangs held a 2 to l lead over our boys te Q fe it 8 tx e Q ex le SOFTBALL Fornfelt High School's athletic director, Coach Floyd Berry, followed his successful basket- ball season with a prize winning softball nine. Although at present our softball schedule is not completed,here are the results of the games thus far played. The Bearcats first clash was with their old and famous rivals, the Wlllmo Mustangsn. The first five innings were draped entirely in Illmo's laurels because going into the last half of the But then the bottom dropped out of the sky and the rain fell in the form of base hits for the Bearcats i when the storm was over and the smoke of battle cleared, the HFornfeltiansN were riding on a 14 to 2 lead and that was the final score. The second contest of the year matched the Bearcats against the Benton Tigers. Johnson, the Tiger pitcher, was invincible for five innings and they nursed a three to one lead at the end of five innings. But once again our boys swung from their heels and sliced, slashed, and pounded the horse- hide for four runs in the fifth inning and five more runs in the sixth to win their second game 10 to 3. For the third game of the year, the Bearcats again met the Mustangs. This time, the boys from Illmo were ready for our veteran right-hander, Dean Wadlington,and jumped him for seven runs in the first inning. - Now, as well as in the-past, our team never gave up and by exerting all they had, the Bearcats staged a rally each inning, which was highlighted 1 by a homerun by Wadlington in the sixth with a man, 5 on, to win his own game by the score of 8 to 7.
