FORK UNION MILITARY ACADEMY TI-IE MARION CURL THOMAS GYMNASIUM Th1s magmficent structure was begun durmg the sesslon of 1946 47 Completed at a cost of S300 000 00, It IS 160 feet long and 86 feet wnde On the first floor are two basketball courts wlth bleachers whIch together wlth the balcony, w1ll seat 1000 spectators Also on the same floor IS a large stage wlth every modern lnghtmg and stage equxpment The stage dressmg rooms and motxon plcture projecting booth are lo cated on the balcony floor At the entrance on the first floor, adjonmng the lobby, are trophy, lounge, and office rooms The basement floor 1S equlpped wIth a large locker room, varslty and jumor vars1ty dress1ng rooms, v1s1tors dressmg room, three shower rooms, separate wrestl1ng, boxmg, table tenms, hand ball, equlpment rooms, and a splendld drymg equxpment system These, w1th many other features, combme to make It one of the largest and best equlpped gymnaslums to be found on any academy THE ALUMNI GYMNASIUM Th1s structure IS a modern gymnas1um In every partlcular, room for basketball, lockers, shower baths, game rooms, athletlc equxpment, etc It IS constructed of brlck and concrete Recent renovat1on and altera t1ons have transformed th1s buxldnng Into a vlrrually new facIl1ty This gymnasium IS used exclusively by the Iumor School SWIMMING POOL Through the generoslty of two of our trustees, Mr M C Thomas and the late Mr B F Dlckerson of Charlotteswlle, V1rg1n1a, our cadets enjoy an Inslde all season swlmmmg pool Th1S pool IS connected wlth the east sIde of the gymnaslum, and IS equlpped wxth the latest and most complete water PUl'1flC3t10I'l system obtamable Here boys can learn how to sw1m under proper and safe supervlslon , I . . . i 1 campus in the entire country.
