FORK UNION MILITARY ACADEMY THE MARION CURL THOMAS GYMNASIUM This magnificent structure was begun during the session of 1946-47. Completed at a cost of S300,000.00, it is 160 feet long and 86 feet wide. On the first floor are two basketball courts with bleachers which, together with the balcony, will seat 1000 spectators. Also on the same floor is a large stage with every modern lighting and stage equipment. The stage dressing rooms and motion picture projecting booth are lo- cated on the balcony floor. At the entrance on che first floor, adjoining the lobby, are trophy, lounge, and oiiice rooms. The basement floor is equipped with a large locker room, varsity and junior varsity dressing rooms, visitors' dressing room, three shower rooms, separate wrestling, boxing, table tennis, hand ball, equipment rooms, and a splendid drying equipment system. These, with many other features, combine to make it one of the largest and best equipped gymnasiums to be found on any academy campus in the entire country. THE ALUMNI GYMNASIUM This structure is a modern gymnasium in every particular, room for basketball, lockers, shower baths, game rooms, athletic equipment, etc. It is constructed of brick and concrete. Recent renovation and altera- tions have transformed this building into a virtually new facility. This gymnasium is used exclusively by the junior School. SWIMMING Pool. Through the generosity of two of our trustees, Mr. M. C. Thomas and the late Mr. B. F. Dickerson of Charlottesville, Virginia, our cadets enjoy an inside all-season swimming pool. This pool is connected with the east side of the gymnasium, and is equipped with the latest and most complete water purification system obtainable. Here boys can learn how to swim under proper and safe supervision.
