During the year, the five officers and their sponsor, Mrs. Louise Phillips, arranged the presentation of a number of instructional dance movies to the group of thirty. Partici- pants choreographed original dances for the weekly club meetings as well as for the annual Orchesis Show. In the spring, they performed for their parents at the Dance Club Banquet. Forest Viewis Pep Club, divided into seven separate pep squads representing each of the minor sports, consisted of 180 members. This year, a Governing Board, under the direction of Liz Nesbit, determined all of the club's activities and made all of the decisions. The club, open to all interested Forest View girls, promoted team unity as well as school spirit. Members publicized coming sports events and performed various tasks including scoring and timing. Pep squads represented the entire school at both home and away meets. Orchesis and Falcettes Rehearsed for Perfection Orchesis members anxiously awaited their cue for a basketball half-time show. ORCHESIS: Bottom Row: Ellen Takamoto, Beth Dendor, Jan McCaf- ferty, Debbie Di Flavio, Felicia Palmisano, Mariann VeVang, Anne Lancaster, Diane Guzy, Terry Corbett, Mary Lynn Cotten, Joy Welker, Debbie Lynch, Michiko Mitsusado, Sue Conway. Top Row: Sue Lubeck, Orchesis, Forest View's dance group, was more than just a physical education class. The girls who comprised the group wished to enter- tain people. When planning a show, Orchesis members worked against deadlines to design costumes and perfect dance numbers. During a basketball half-time on December 11, 1970, they performed !'Yes, We Have No Bananas, but We Have Girls! Girls! Girls! Orchesis' annual show, held in February and entitled HFVHSO Presents GMRXQ' exemplified the work and talents of the group. Following the week-long spring clinic, a prospective member must perform a required and an original dance before a group of judges. If accepted for membership, she must success- fully complete the activities of Pledge Week before the actual initiation ceremony occurs. i Thirty-nine members comprised the Fal- cettes, Forest View's drill team. This year the girls dressed in new uniforms, gold sweat- ers and double-breasted black jumpers. The Falcettes represented Forest View at the Co- lumbus Day Parade in Chicago, at the Pres- ident Nixon Rally at Prospect High School, and in additional parades in surrounding sub- urbs. They provided entertainment for football and basketball half-time shows and generated enthusiasm during pep assemblies. The Color Guard, under the command of Bev Douglas, presented the colors at all home football and basketball games.
