Famous Guest Musicians Highlighted Band Conceri Barb Smith talked up the Falcon spirit at a football half-time show. Row 3: Susan Morris, Sandie Iwen, Janice Betterman, Caron Bentsen, Jerry Longtin, Cindy Cox, Eric Eichorst, l A variety of contests, parades, and con- certs gave the Forest View band the opportun- ity to exhibit its talent. Under the direction of Mr. Fred Elliot, the band participated in the University of Illinois Band Day, the District 214 Music Festival, the State Band Contest, the Columbus Day Parade, and the Arlington Heights Christmas Parade. The Concert Band performed for students and faculty at the Christmas Assembly and presented a Christ- mas Concert on December 20. In March, the Symphonic Band held a Winter Concert, which featured famous saxophone virtuoso, Fred Hemke. With the formation of a Jazz Band, stu- dents demonstrated their desire for variety in music. In November, the Jazz Band played at the Great Lakes Naval Hospital. Falcons lis- tened to their music at several assemblies ar concerts, including the May 12 concert, whiz starred Sonny Stit, famous tenor saxophor player from Washington, D.C. Chosen for their ability to handle the bato the Twirlers performed with the Marchir Band during football half-time shows ar also in several parades and contests. Tl four girls choreographed their own routini and occasionally used fire batons, an interes ing and entertaining innovation.
