Four Track Team Members Qualified for State Endless hours of practice coupled with a desire to succeed characterized the 1970 Varsity Track Team. Several of its mem- bers showed great ability in their par- ticular areas of the sport and diligently strove to attain new goals. Torn Dendor broke the school record in the shot put, and Keith Phillips set a new record for the high jump. In addition, four qualifiers, com- prising the 880-yard relay team, attended the State Track Meet in Champaign, Illinois, and placed sixth. Members of the .Frosh-Soph Track Team set new records on their level, also. V I -- ' 1. Top Row: Jan Linduska, Leslie Dargo, Pat Miller, Kim Turner, Debbie Jessie, Bev Hanna, Pat Snyder. 138 Tennis Returning Lettermen Created Backbone for Tennis Team A large number of returning lettermen provided Forest Views Varsity Tennis Team with the strength and experience that accounted for its winning season. With an 8-1 record and second place in the Mid-Suburban League Con- ference, the 1970 squad equalled the results of the previous year. The first and second singles players, Don Martin and Scott Vaughn, qualified for the state meet. At the close of the season, the varsity net- men voted senior teammate Don Martin as the most valuable player. The Frosh-Soph Tennis Team finished in third place in the Mid-Suburban League Con- ference. Coach Warren Myers worked with a squad of ten boys who played in nine Conference meets. The competition enabled the younger Falcon netmen to gain experience and perfect technical skills, two factors necessary for suc- cess in future seasons. Dick Martin perfected his serve. cans l .
