Swim Team Remained Conference Co-Champs With a record of 12-0 in dual swim meets, the Varsity Swim Team, coached by Mr. Gor- don Auckerman, tied with Arlington for the Con- ference Championship. Four swimmers, John Mate, Scott Patience, Fred Westdale, and Mark Bailey, qualified for the 1970-1971 State Swim Meet, held at Evanston Township High School. An eighth-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle earned Captain Scott Patience four points in the state meet, in which Forest View placed thirty- third out of the sixty-six participating schools. The Frosh-Soph Team finished fifth in the Conference with a record of 5-7. Coach John Hillary felt that the squad had scored reason- ably well in dual meet competition but had lacked the depth to score well in the all-Con- ference Meet. Both the frosh-soph and varsity teams participated in two special events, the Sham- rock Relays, held at Saint Patrick High School, and the Big Red Relays, held at Niles West. In these two events, both squads placed second and third, respectively. tition against Arlington Sophomore Mike Tousey FROSH SOPH SWIM TEAM: Bottom Row: Coach John Hillary, Mike Sarich, Doug Schlak Warren Hertz Mark Gronke.
