Varsity Cagers' Three Conference Victories Consisted of Close Games Winning only three Conference games, the arsity Basketball Team did not live up to their hopes for the 1970-1971 season. Conference included a one-point win over Glen- North, a 70-67 victory over Palatine, and, defeat of Elk Grove C81-705, in which the cagers, coached by Mr. Ken Anderson, their highest number of game points for season. Senior George Bauer, who scored in double in every contest except against Arling- led the cagers. In several games, he scored the twenties. Another Falcon asset was Sen- r Ed Bansfield, who shared the title of captain ith George Bauer. He ended the season with the ighest field goal percentage on the squad and lso proved to be the most expert ball handler. The junior varsity cagers finished a dis- ppointing season with an overall record of 5-13. he younger Falcons, led by Coach Bud Born- an, achieved their most commendable victory er a previously unbeaten Prospect squad. Jun- r Randy J esperson and Sophomore Tom Muel- r proved to be the most outstanding players on e team. Coached by Mr. Paul Jordan, the Sopho- more Basketball Team battled their way to a .500 season, with a 10-10 record. Sophomore players cited for their abilities included guards Greg Fink and Lou Leuzzi, forwards Jack Lloyd, Bill Millner, and John Forrsander, and center T. J . Skelly. With an overall record of fifteen wins and three losses, the Freshman A Team produced the best effort in basketball this season. Mr. Fred Lussow's cagers remained undefeated in the Conference with a 14-0 record. They were the only 1970-1971 Forest View basketball team to win a Conference Championship. Kurt Haa- land, Craig Brinkman, John Kronforst, and Larry Monroe provided a backbone for future basketball squads. The Freshman B Team, coached by Mr. Mark Thorne, also produced a strong effort by taking second place in the Conference with a 13-3 record. The highlight of the season proved to be the 54-40 victory over the eventual Con- ference winner, Wheeling. Don Stevens led the team in scoring. b Kasper positioned himself for guarding.
