JV Experienced Disappointing Year, Frosh A and C Placed First Forest View's Varsity Football Team, un- der the direction of Head Coach Paul Jordan and Assistant Coaches John Ellis, Art Klein, and Fred Lussow, experienced a disappointing season. Their 1-6-1 win-loss record proved to be the second-worst record in Forest View foot- ball history. The 1970 season was not void of highlights, however. During the Homecoming Game, the Falcons played winning football only to suffer the call-back of one touchdown and a two-point conversion to tie Conant 12-12. In a contest against Glenbard North, the varsity gridders, losing 29-6 in the third quarter, staged an out- standing comeback to upset the opponents 32-29. eniors Val Valentino and Kent Koentopp each cored two touchdowns, while junior Bob Sobie- ki scored one touchdown. Dave Schneider, voted the Most Valuable layer and elected to the All-Conference squad, ed the team in tackles. The varsity players elected teammates Jack Reitz, George Bauer, nd Kent Koentopp as the most valuable back, he most valuable lineman, and the most im- roved player, respectively. Coach Bud Bornman's Junior Varsity grid- ders, plagued by numerous injuries, compiled a 2-4-2 record. Don Smith, the team's most valu- able player, led a squad composed mainly of sophomores because of the loss of several jun- iors to the varsity team. The Sophomores proved adept at come- from-behind victories. Coached by Mr. Darryl Phillips and Mr. Rusty Dowell, they finished the season with five wins and three losses for sec- ond place in Conference. Quarterback Bill Mill- ner and players Pete Ceraulo, Dale Schoenbeck and Tom Mueller showed much promise for fu- ture success in competitive high school football. Because of an unusually large number of prospective players this year, three units play- ing different schedules composed the Freshman Team. Together, they produced the finest rec- ords for their level in Forest View's history. Team A, coached by Mr. Mike Frase and Mr. David Theesfeld, finished first in Conference as did Team C, coached by student Don Woodsmall and Mr. Tom Seidel. Team B, under the direc- tion of Coaches Ed Cheatham and Tom Seidel, claimed the only loss among the three and placed second in conference competition. 1 V FOOTBALL TEAM: Bottom Row: Mike Valentino, Rick Ross, John Bruce Sturgeon, Ron Smith, Ken Fick, Mark Hager, Dave Bargardt- Ofilon, Don Redmgnd, Frank Scala, Row 23 Bob King, Mike Seidlitzy Top.
