Homecoming “Batter the Rams.” That was the theme that added to the excitement and anticipation of Homecoming week. This year. Homecoming was planned out by the Student Council, which provided activities for all. They kicked off the week by painting town windows (and people!) on Saturday. Monday night was Coronation, which was held in the auditorium. To set the mood, people dressed up in their best during the day. Tuesday night was a time for talents to shine at skit night. The winning skit was presented by the “B” squad cheerleaders. “What a pair of legs,” was a comment often heard as students tried to match up teachers with their legs for the leg’s contest. Wednesday was also a day when people could show off their hats, buttons and their favorite tie for hat. tie, and button day. Poodle skirts, ponytails, bobby socks, leather jackets, sunglasses, and slicked back hair were the fashions on Thursday, as 50’s day brought back “Happy Days. Thursday night, the marching band provided the “Street Beat” for the Homecoming Parade which earned them first place. After the parade, the students enjoyed the Snake-Dance and the Bon- Fire. Homecoming Royalty, Dina Kemnitz and Tony Nelson, carried on tradition by starting the Ram Mascot on fire. The week was topped off by Friday night's football game against Ramsey. After the tie score of 15-15, the Rangers pulled ahead with a 23-21 victory over the Rams. The excitement lasted through the night with the traditional Alumni Polka. Over 1,000 people packed into the cafeteria to see old and new faces and to dance the night away to the music of the Polka Jacs. Homecoming 1
