Forest Lake Supports President Carter’s Energy Week February 13-17 was a week designated to conserve energy. With schools being closed, there were many activities to be found. Sleeping late followed by lazy days was common. Many took the opportunity to catch up on their practicing, or cleaning up the house. Florida, Hawaii and the Bahamas were suddenly filled with eager vacationer-s ready to catch the warm sun’s rays. But those not so fortunate stayed close to home to enjoy Minnesota’s wonderful winter weather. Activities during the energy break included: 1. Angel in the snow (Mary Kay Morley). 2. Taking up skiing (Becky Mickelsen, Mary Kay Morley). 3. Sleeping late (Mary Kay Morley). 4. The wonder of nature. 5. Game shows and soap operas (Rosemarie Morley). 6. Catching up on homework (Becky Mickelsen). 7. Receiving Valentine carnations before vacation. 8. Empty classrooms! Energy Week 27

FFA Members Host FFA Week National FFA Week was held during the week of February 18-25. FFA week was honored by the Forest Lake FFA for the promotion of FFA and fun. Activities included were chainsawing, arm wrestling, corn guess, pie eating, seed spitting, corn shelling, egg toss, nail drive and the annual treasure hunt. A silver milk can was the treasure and twenty dollars was the reward. Shawn Dolan was the lucky finder of the treasure, finding it under the candy machines. Coffee was served to the staff and all faculty on Thursday, February 23. Because Forest Lake’s chapter is not restricted to only local activities, many are kept busy by participating in state activities. 1.
