Summer 15 Early Summer School Begins Hectic Summer When finals are completed and lockers are cleaned out, our reward is summer vacation. Although summer is a leisure time, many of our hours were spent with jobs, hobbies, and even school. This past summer marked the first year elective courses were offered in the curriculum for summer school.

Rush Begins on August 24 The first day of school started out different than the year before. The first difference and probably the most obvious, was that school opened a week earlier on August 24. Students went to TA for their first class where schedules and lockers were given out. After these were taken care of, the new attendance policy was explained. Another change in this school year was the time in which school ended each day. Bus routes picked up students at the junior high schools first, which caused the senior high to be released later. Included in the new policy was increased contact between teachers and parents. A progress report was sent to parents following every fourth student’s absence. This eliminated excused and unexcused absences, for any class missed is important, regardless of the reason for that absence. Besides these new changes at Forest Lake Senior High there was the regular hustle and bustle of the first day of school. Sophomores looked lost, juniors recognized a higher status and seniors realized that they were at the top, at last. 1. Students listen attentively while their TA advisor gives out first day instructions. 2. Paces show mixed emotions of the first day of school. 3. Mr. Ashby. Mr. Motschenbacher and Kevin Pitcher look for the first vacation day. 4. Mr Mills assigns lockers to his TA group. 5. Sophomores show their usual look of confusion as they search for their TA room. 6. Sophomores Tracey Flermoen and Betsy Bartlett stand in disbelief at the size of the Senior High. 7. Mr. Anderson and Mr. Hallin assign study hall seats. Opening Day 17
