1. Lon Lamprecht rehearses for a declamation tournament. 2. Sharing ideas and critiques are valuable tools for participants in declamation. Declamation Program Nets Medals, Trophies Under the direction of Mdme. Sagstuen, the French club again participated in a busy year. With an increase in membership, the group held their traditional activities. Among the most popular were taking field trips, learning to make crepes, eating out at a French restaurant, and giving skits. Mr. Franzen's Spanish club also experienced growth in its membership. Emphasizing cultural activities, the group saw a fairly calm year. In an effort to promote school spirit they staged colorful skits. Typical winter weather ruined plans for their roller skating party. Medals, trophies, and A-ratings were symbolic of decla- mation's success. With the return of Ms. Howe, the group had entrants in all categories and put in a long season. Their talents consistently proved that FLHS has a strong, respectable speech program that produces winners. SPANISH CLUB. AFS Gets Profit From Genuine French Dinner The American Field Service was a new program in our school this year. AFS is basically a program in which countries can exchange their students. Through AFS we are able to gain a much broader insight of the cultures and government of different countries. Our chapter advi- sor was N. Sagstuen. We have had the opportunity to have a foreign exchange student in our school, Connie Von Breeman, from Holland. We hope she enjoyed her stay in the U.S. When the first nips of winter hit the air, Forest Lake ski club slid into action. Before the snow hit the ground they had planned some money making activities. A ski-swap was held in mid-November, the ski club hopes to make this an annual affair. Another fund raiser sponsored by the skiers was a polka dance before Christmas vacation. Every Thursday thereafter the ski club alternated visits between Snowcrest, Trollhaugen, and Wild Mountain.
