Suzanne Sunsten 8 Flags Major(ettes) After the long summer vacation of many hours of march- ing practices, the majorettes began preparing for home- coming. With the high horse-like and majestic step, the coronation procession was proudly executed. Homecom- ing halftime show was a success with the help of Mrs. Onell, revived enthusiasm, new costumes, and, once again, working with the cheerleaders. Especially their fea- ture routine “Free Ride ; smiles and all even if a mistake was made. The majorettes also performed in pre-game shows during the football season. Being there are only the three senior majorettes left and because of the lack of participation, there may be no future majorettes. Exhibiting poise and nerve, Jay Voelker executed a front handspring beginning the homecoming halftime show. Having done this without falling. Jay could stop worrying about grass stains. Beautifying the FLHS homecoming week with color, and dignity, the 26 member flag corps and captain, Nancy Nelson, underwent months of practice to prepare for the year’s events. Taking part in coronation, the homecom- ing parade, and doing a drill to “Rhapsody in Blue” during the halftime show, the corps also marched in several parades. Painting their cupboards was an experience for all and will never be forgotten.
