Spotlight Op g Just at the sophomores go through the process of becoming members of the senior high, the juniors go through a stage of maturing. They have a sense of belong- ing, having already adjusted to the high school environment and academic program. As an insider they are more at ease with all aspects of school life. They look for more recognition and, there- fore, are more active in clubs and organizations. As juniors they shoulder more responsibility and as a result are elect- ed or appointed to head various extracurricular activities. They share not only their similarities with their friends but also their differences. They gain more experience and understanding for that final year in high school. Receiving class rings, sponsoring the junior-senior prom, and the taking of ‘‘college boards” are but a few events occurring in this eleventh year which differentiates them from the others in high school. This middle year of high school finds the juniors patiently biding their time, participating and getting invlolved with all aspects of school life, knowing that the final year is not too far ahead when they will be in the main spotlight at Forest Hills. ------------------------------ SENIORS: In The Spotlight Each of us has his own destiny and in its fulfillment a few people will have leading roles. So, too, each class has its own role in the educa- tional process with the seniors having the leading role. They will assume leadership in all phases of school life, in the classroom, as well in extracurricular activities and athletic programs. All of us plan for the years ahead. Seniors, in particular, begin to think of training themselves for a career in adult life, for marriage and for raising a family. As they apply to college or look over the job possibilities that lie ahead, they know they will have to apply their high school training and learning experiences to meet their upcoming challenges and responsi- bilities. In looking ahead, they realize that graduation will serve as a returning point for them to begin a new life style. But as seniors they are now in the main spotlight and they must prove to others that since the focus is on them they must show themselves to be true leaders. V Theme-9
