National Honor Society Inducts 32; New Ceremony Used The National Honor Society, under the direction of Sara Marie Honadle, conducted a new induction cere- mony this year. The theme was based on that of King Arthur and his Round Table. Each newr member was dubbed a knight’’ of the NHS by its president. Mary Topper. Picture at top right shows the president dub- bing” Robert Burkett. The ceremony opened w ith four members delivering speeches on leadership, scholarship, character and ser- vice—the four requisites necessary to become a knight” of the society. The names of the 32 inductees, twenty seniors and twelve juniors, were then announced. These new members were chosen by secret ballot of the faculty from a list of all eligible seniors and juniors. As each name was called, the candidate approached the presi- dent, knelt and was dubbed a knight” in the National Honor Society. To conclude the ceremony, the 20 members drank a toast to the 32 inductees for their suc- cess in the NHS. The National Honor Society meets monthly to dis- cuss plans for activities to be held by the organization. The National Honor Society in order to raise money lor its NHS Pins came up with a new and different money making idea—a spaghetti dinner. It was held on Sunday, November 16 at the Greek Church Hall in Dunlo. Senior members of the NHS, together with their advisor. Miss Honadle, and their mothers, prepared the meal and served it. A substantial crowd turned out for the social and made it a great success. A turkey, donated by the Costlow Turkey Farm was raffled off during the dinner. The spaghetti dinner in conjunction with the chances on the turkey netted the organization a profit of $157.00.
