Mixed feelings of optimism and pessimism were felt, but the majority of persons were looking forward to this challenging step in educational progress. Many administrators, teachers, and even students worked hard and long trying to find solutions to problems that were bound to arise. Bus schedules, class adjustments and reorganized student activities were shaped to fit the new school's pat- tern. A special committee consisting of four Triangle students, four Adams students, their advisors, and school principals met regularly at the end of the 65-66 school term. They were proud to be given the opportunity to discuss problems that would concern the students after the jointure. One accomplishment was designing the school seal and class ring. A Get-Acquainted Dance was organized between the two schools and an elec- tion was held to pick the school nickname. As the first year of the jointure comes to an end, many problems are still being confronted, but with cooperation and hard work they will be solved. 2 PLANNING COMMITTEE—V. Golden. B. Dimond. J. Torma, G. Costlow, Mr. Madigan, G. Kosmac. P. Smith, J. Moore. Junior High 3 Senior High 4 Dedication The 1967 Forester is dedicated to the entire student body of Forest Hills High School. Whether rushing between classes, studying in the classroom, or cheering at games, these students are helping to make our school one of the best in the district. The students are not only part of the high school - they are the school. The future of our country rests in the youth of today, and it is during their high school years that they prepare themselves to become re- sponsible adult citizens of our country. The 1967 Forester staff sincerely wishes success to all of the students in the attainment of the high goals they have set for themselves. 5 Dear Graduate: Whatever happened to the past twelve years? Before we got a chance to talk to you about the birds and the bees, you could tell us--in Latin, Spanish and German. But, before you leave us let’s look at some items we never covered in the past years. You’ll do what your own ideals demand, and seek what your own heart desires; but if your intelligence could somehow pick up where Dad’s and Mother’s knowledge leaves off, it would spare you some skinned shins. Smile a lot. There are only two ways you can pay your debt to the human race. You owe enthusiasm to your employer and pleasantness to your associates. And, for your own sake, find a kind of work that in- terests you. No job is all fun or all easy or even all pleasant, but if your job isn’t interesting you will live a dreary and weary life. Time is going to mellow you eventually whether you like it or not. Time is going to teach you a certain patience and tolerance. Don’t pick up too many vices. Life has a way of overcharging a fellow for over indulgence. And when the world looks lop-sided, remember that you are being sized up for a more symmetrical place. If you can—measure up. 8 DAVID L. SMITH - Superintendent Dear Seniors: I wish to take this means of thanking the seniors for your fine cooperation during the first year at Forest Hills High School. It has been a challenge and you, the seniors, have tried in many ways to meet these challenges. We owe a deep debt of gratitude to those who made this year a success. It is my hope that as you ad- vance in life, you will never forget your association with us and will be instrumental in remembering the role we must play in the development of good citizens. We ask for your continued support for the school and, any service you can render will be ap- preciated. May you achieve all the success you have coming to you in the future. For a job well done I say ‘thank you’ and that it has been an honor working with you. J. P. Madigan High School Principal 9 JOSEPH P. MADIGAN - Principal JOHN M. Kirby, business manager and board secretary of the Forest Hills School District. Mr. Kirby served as director and officer of the Croyle Township School District for sixteen years, and prior to his election as business manager and board secretary of Forest Hills Schools, he served for three years as business manager and board secretary of Triangle Area Schools. Mr. Kirby was dedicated and gave his time generously to the affairs of the school dis- trict (s) and community; the board members, administrators, teachers, and we. the students, feel deeply the loss of his friendship, his judgement, and untiring dedication in the interest of education of this area. We mourn his passing, not only as a personal loss, but as a loss to our school commu- nity. Secretarial H. Gdu la --Business Office R. Lloyd--Business Office H. Fomadel--Business Office 12 T. Farewell Four years is a long time --too long to forget. We look around and ask --where did it go? We worked, we played --but for four years? Then we look the other way —into tomorrow. Suddenly we're not so tall as we thought we were And not so smart. But we find that somehow We learned a decisive lesson at Forest Hills; something we wouldn't have had without the Faculty and Administration --a direction into that uncertain tomorrow. It can never be so dark again Though the world may change and the times change and we change. BENEFACTORS Mrs. A. R. Burkett J. C. Valko Liberty Park George L. White Sickle's Cafe, Wilmore Rev.
