VARSITY FOOTBALL Fordson Opponent 35 Del. Southwestern 13 21 Garden City 0 27 Wayne 0 12 Trenton 6 40 Lincoln Park 6 33 Monroe 8 27 Belleville 0 31 Wyandotte 0 24 Edsel Ford 3 21 Henry Ford 12 9 Farmington Harrison 7 12 Ann Arbor Pioneer 38 W - 11 L - 1 1984 was another spec- tacular season for Fordson football, with this year's squad going to the state finals before bowing to Ann Arbor Pioneer 38-12. The trademark of this sea- son was the hard-hitting defense which had 4 shu- touts. Standouts included Seniors Domenic Tassielli, David Caiss, Eric Bartlett, Jeff Schertzer, and Chris Estrada. The offense was trans- formed from a ball-control style to a high-powered pass- ing attack, with junior Mike laquaniello throwing T.D. passes to many receivers, including Dan McDougall, co-captain Caiss, and Estrada. The running game was also strong with John Janowicz, co-captain Tassielli, Jim Fer- ris, and Dan Herman carrying much of the load. The offensive line that provided superb blocking throughout the year was led by Schertzer, Mark Pultorak, Pat Bruno, and Keith Moore. This year marked the 5th time in 6 years that Fordson has qualified for the State Playoffs. The Tractors beat two of the state's three best teams in the playoffs, Henry Ford, 21-12, in the Quar- terfinals, and Farmington Harrison, 9-7, in the Semi- finals. Once again the Trac- tors could not come with the coveted Class A champion- ships as they were over- powered by a tough Ann Arbor squad in the Dome.
