Then in our junior year we got into the extra-curricular activities, clubs, sports, night recreation, service squad. We were becoming a part of Fordson. Before we knew it, we were big wheels otherwise known as seniors. Our senior class officers were elected, and lots of hard work began toward the planning of the senior prom and graduation night. November found us working diligently on our senior play, A Date with Judy. Graduation, open house, senior prom meant for many graduates the last time they would be together with all their classmates. So with sweet and treasured memories of wonderful high school careers, the January '48 grads went out into another thrilling, new life. Pag? There was a shuffling of feel, a muf+ering of voices, an unexpected laugh; above them all floated music from the bandstand. This was THE night, for this was the prom, being held in the Fountain Ballroom of the Masonic Temple. Some of the couples talked fluently. A few danced in silence—their thoughts perhaps on the friendly relationships developed during their high school years. Their clubs, offices, dances, football and basketball games, even the crowded bus in the morning, now would become memories. The grand march was on, being led by the class officers, with their dates. They beamed with pride, knowing their plans for the class' activities had been successful. Out of the heated discussions in classrooms, where students' ideas varied, and later from a senior assembly, the first meeting of its kind ever to be held at Fordson, came definite plans, slowly turning into reality. Spearheading the way were entirely remodeled rings and announcements. A Date With Judy became the successful senior play. Another first for this class was the commencement program, presented entirely by faculty and students. The grand march ended. Leaders, followers; one cause, one goal; advancement for all. After a little shuffling the team shaped up with Chet Pit alternating between first and the outfield, Cornell Ghise second, Dick Isham at third, and Carl Bayoff at short with Pit and Ghise acting as team Co-captains. In the outfield, Taft Abed, Roger Murphy, and Ronald LaLor took care of the chores for most of the season. The pitchii burden fell mainly on Bill Shinsky, Dan Baja, John Swartz, Pete Collura.
