CLASS HISTORY We hesxtated when we were asked to prepare this prcture of the Class of 1949 for your mspectton We are not artlsts and everyone knows it Any of our teachers could tell you that we were never especially profxcxent nn drawmg any thmg except attention and could never pamt anythmg successfully not even our own faces Besides the Class of 1949 IS a very lrkely subject for even an expert to attempt to sketch They are never any of them twice altke nor apt to be found twice in the same place or pos1t1on Even a snapshot could never catch them ln anythmg better than a blur Besides we are only three people of decldedly rn dwidual opmxons and could only look at our classmates through our own eyes We cannot see them as they see themselves nor even as you mrght see them xi you m1ght stand for a ttme tn our posxtron and be able to look at them from our pomt of v1ew We began our Freshman year September 1 1945 with an enrollment of twenty four We were all very bashful and xt took almost all of the year for us become acquamted The most important event of our Freshman year was the m1t1 at1on party the Senxors gave us The class orfxcers were as follows Presxdent Lyle Wrlson Vlce Pres1dent Ruth Swearengm Secretary and Treasurer Fonda Crzger We lost two students B111 Lamm and Larry Bakeman but three others James Ince Bob Strnnett and Verba Sturdefant came to take their place Our candxdates for Prmce Charmmg and Beauty Queen were Lyle Wxlson and Fonda Crrger We were beaten by the Semors We had our class party rn the Sprmg of 1946 Everyone enjoyed nt Mr Mxller was our sponsor The year ended wtth everyone lookmg forward to starting ln agam as Sophomores m September We began our Sophomore year September 2 1946 We had an enrollment of twenty seven The class offtcers were as follows Presrdent Bob Wrllxams, student and gained three Claude Burks and Barbara Faulkner were the candldates for Prmce Charmmg and Beauty Queen We were unsuccessful ln gettmg them crowned Mr Byrd was our sponsor We had two class partxes that year School ended m May and everyone looked forward to fall and to becoming jolly Juntors We began our Junror year September 3 1947 We had an enrollment of twenty six Class offrcers were as follows President Jamie Lea Vice Presxdent Barbara Faulkner Secretary and Treasurer Norma June Wllllamson We had a class party the frrst month of school at the home of Jamie Lea Candidates for Beauty Queen and Prmce Charming were Lounse Clouse and Cecil Rlddle We were again unsuccessful ln this race We ordered our class rmgs and were lookmg for ward to recewmg them at the beginning of our Sentor year Our class sponsor was Henrretta Mrller We gave our Juntor Play Marrted Before Midnight February 27 1948 It was a mystery comedy and proved to be a great success We had another class party at the home of Merxbelle Hargxs nn the sprmg On May ll 1948 we had a banquet ln honor of the Sentors This proved to be a success also The theme of the banquet was Holiday Inn We celebrated each holxday by smgmg a song connected with the actwrtxes of that day School was out May 14 and we were all lookrng forward to becoming Seniors tn the fall Our last year at dear old Fordland 1-hgh began September 6 1948 We had an enrollment of twenty one Class offtcers were as follows Presxdent Lester Steward V1ce Presldent Claude Burks Secretary and Treasurer Barbara Faulkner We lost one student Fonda Crxger who preferred marrxed lxfe to studies at school We had one student Kenneth Jones to enter after the year started The flrst excttmg event of thts year was the recewmg of our class rmgs We are very proud of them 13 . , . l I ' I . . .
