INTRAMURALS BASKETBALL Not only did the School ot Business walk away with the University grid championship, but two Business teams ran away with the Uni- versity baseketball championships, finishing I-2. Junior A led by Jack Roche, Al Bates, Ray Fisher, Tony Antonnucci, Bill Foley, and a strong bench of Tom Quigley, Bill Driscoll and Ken Gamble showed from the beginning that they were the team to be reckoned with. The iuniors readily took care of the senior contenders, Sr. A, and knocked oft their junior rivals, Jr. C. Gus Gazzola and Mike Burke sparked the seniors while Jr. C was led by the rebounding of Black and scoring punch of Doyle, Eschman and Kirchner. ln the freshman-sophomore division it was all Soph. C as McGuire, Ruotola, Pisano, Flan- agan, and O'Connell took care of their league and Jr. C in the playoffs. ln the battle for the school championship, Jr. A took the title as they downed the sophomores 59-44. For the University crown the same two teams met and in the final meeting the juniors once more beat the underclassmen by some I8 points. This year's team has five lettermen returning TE N N I S including Senior Art Martin and Junior Jim Car- roll, both from the School of Business. Coached by Bob Hawthorne and captained by Hank Connolly, this year's team showed great po- tential. Backing the veterans and challenging ,,,,i,,. their positions are no less than six sophomores giving future teams a promise of great depth. Last year's record of eight wins and four losses can be easily surpassed by this year's squad which shows plenty of talent and also the desire to win. This year's team was hit by much inclement weather and so the season had to be cramped by filling in make-up games. The Rams dropped their first two games to Adelphi, 5-4, and to Columbia, 7-2. However the team has come back to defeat Seton Hall and Hofstra College. NYU and St. John's affords the Rams some of the tougher rivals to be faced. The veterans including Don Bindler, Hughie O'Donnell and Bill Murphy should carry the squad to a most successful year. 216

Martin lmissingj. Alley Oop. FOOTBALL The mix-up of classes may have caused some grumblings among many students but not those who got the best of the athletes. From the breakup of classes, strong grid power- houses emerged in Senior B, Junior E, Soph C and Soph B. Senior B, the Somebody Up There Likes Them team took the Business and University championships but all of the other three teams were stronger than the Pharmacy and College counterparts and would have given the seniors a tougher struggle in the final game. Putting tive All-Stars on the senior team, the veterans proceeded to take their division and knock oft the iunior contenders 20-O. The jun- iors were previously unbeaten and unscored on, but the seniors who strongly scouted each club were too much for the underclassmen. Soph C, the winners of the treshmen-sopho- more division, were also knocked off for the school championship by a score of 6-O. These sophs were also unbeaten and Unscored upon until they met the stronger seniors. Junior E was led during the year by Don Woods and Tom Feeley and were backed by a strong array of good players.
