FENCING Coach Pete O'Connor knew that he would be working with a relatively inexperienced squad, and therefore not only looked for mis- takes but counted on them. Now with the sea- son completed next year's squad should have a host of experienced sophs and iuniors. Next year's squad is expected to be built around returning veterans like Joe Petrillo and Bob O'Connor. O'Connor is only a freshman and is considered one of the best in the epee division. 5 Q Left to right: F. Colella, J. Topis, T. Go an, go. G CCI nother hit. lls signals. ...UUA -0-ws,.w..,. sv Metropolitan batting champ Bill Habberman, BASEBALL Coach Dan Rinaldo has six months to pre- pare his starting lineup each baseball season. Now that Fordham has fall practice, the coach has a chance to see what he will have to play with as far as lineups and players are con- cerned. Coach Rinaldo saw by his fall practice that he would have to play a young club but that there would be much talent lying around from last year's squad and the upcoming fresh- men. Dee Maynard, lefty swinging first baseman was elected as this year's captain. Built around Maynard, Rinaldo carefully selected his team. Pitching for this year's team were veterans Don Woods and Larry Toroker. Ken Gazzola was expected to see limited duty but turned out to be one of the most reliable on the pitching staff. Backing these three were sophs Bill An- ton and Ed Kata along with senior southpaw Bob Cavanaugh. The other part of the battery consisted of Tony Armenio. The Ram forte this year consisted in a strong hitting outfield. These included Bill Habberman, Tom Harrington and Dick Pollard. The left field spot was taken by Bill Habberman, who last year took the Metropolitan League's batting crown. The infield consisted of Fred O'Connor and Bob Lawry sharing the hot corner at third
