GANNDN DEBATE SOCIETY This year witnessed the revival of the Gan- non Debate Society on campus when a group of students ioined forces under the guidance of Professor Richard Sexton to adopt a new flexible constitution and elect officers. A strong support was immediately evidenced. Following in the tradition of the past the group commenced its program by orientating its members in the skills and techniques of pub- lic speaking and argumentation. Plans were drawn to compete in oratorical combat among themselves and eventually into other collegiate contests. An active year was enioyed. Because of a conflict with a name similarity in the School of Education, the group drew a charter at the termination of the academic year to be officially called The Hogan Debate So- ciety, effective with the commencement of the T961 Fall semester.

Sherlock, the club adopted a program to achieve this obiective. The national topic which was analyzed and de- bated by Mulry Council both intra and inter- collegiately was Resolved that the United States should adopt a program of compulsory health insurance for all citizens. At the weekly intercollegiate debates, each of the members offers a critical analysis of his fellow teammates which proves to be invalu- able in preparing for the intercollegiate de- bates. The Brooklyn College Debate Tourna- ment with more than fifty colleges and univer- sities competing was the debating highlight of the year, and the Mulry Debaters fared excep- tionally well in this tournament.
