Our Town When the curtain rose for the first time on the Fordham Friar's production of Thornton Wilder's Pulitzer Prize winning play, Our Town, Collins Auditorium was stirringly trans- formed into the small New Hampshire town of Grover Corners. The small town atmosphere was created without recourse to scenery or props with the exception of a few tables and chairs. The details and background material was filled in by the words and actions of the actors, especially by those of the stage man- ager who provided the narrative. The venture marked the first entry of the School of Business into theatrics in a great many years, and under the direction of Mr. Salter, the cast rehearsed strenuously for the following three performances. The play, austere in the manner of its pre- sentation and dramatic in the message it con- veys-like itself-was adequately portrayed by the players who although amateurs carried themselves with the dignity and poise of pro- fessionals. All in all, the successful reception of this production may prove to be the starting point from which a School of Business theatri- cal tradition is established. l9l

Communion Breakfast The biggest social-religious function of the year is the Annual Communion Breakfast of the School of Business, held in the Marble Room of Keating Hall. Prior to the breakfast Rev. James J. McGinley, S.J., Dean of the School of Business, offered Mass in the University Chapel. This year we were most fortunate to have Rev. John B. Sheerin, C.S.P. as our guest speaker. Father Sheerin received his B.A. de- gree from St. John's College of Fordham Uni- versity in i928 and the degree of Bachelor of Law from Fordham Law School. In keeping with the spirit of the Lenten Sea- son many of the students and Alumni com- pleted their day at Fordham by attending the matinee performance of the passion play, O My People, in Collins Auditorium.
