Philosophy Club Under the moderation of Dr. Lawrence'Azar, the meet- ings of the Philosophy Club are the opportunities whereby the objectives of the club are disseminated for the purpose of their achievement. ln general, the aims of this organization cen- tralize themselves around increasing the student's interest and understanding of philosophical material and further ex- planation andiapplication of material already covered in the classroom. In accordance with this program, the meetings of this society were held every other Monday at l :OO P.M. At this time, during the first semester, the main topic under consider- ation was the Theory of Pragmatism, and its application in our modern world. The program for the second semester was undertaken with a view to the continuation of the presenta- tion of this topic and additional topics. To achieve these ends, the club's 'many members participated in outside reading ventures and then contributed the material obtained to gen- eral discussion groups. ln addition, selected speakers pre- sented their views on these and other philosophical matters. ln conjunction with Dr., Azar, the officers effectively es- tablished and operated the club's program which was received with enthusiasm by all the members. The Shealy Debating Society is the Evening Student's answer to intercollegiate debating. The Society is dedicated to the improvement and enjoyment of public speaking with special emphasis on the debate. Meet- ings are held weekly in Shealy Hall and feature panel discus- sions and -debates on topics ot current interest. Teams are organized from the mem- bership to engage in intercol- legiate debates and debating tournaments. The Society is affiliated with the Eastern Forensic Association and the National Forensic Association. These will .be our arguments.

When toiling in the fields of business throughout the day, the evening student can find himself involved with the self-styled philosopher who, while tossing ids and egos around with reckless abandon, will champion or embrace any off-beat philosophy merely because it is The Thing.
