They worked very hard in trying to achieve this goal. The Bluebelles welcomed yet another director, Tammie Giddens, who brought with her many modern ideas. Giddens worked hard with the girls, too. The girls began in August with a 5-day clinic, learning routines for football season. They practiced after school in the fall and performed at all the games. The Bluebelles were involved in many community activities. They sold programs at the Bass Tournament, performed at Indian Summer, and at the Friendship Fair. They also performed for the Kiwanis Club, and marched in the Quinlan and Greenville Christmas parades. As competition season approached, the girls had hopes for traveling out of state. They, however, remained in state and went to two competitions. The first was at the Tarrant County Convention Center and was put on by Showtime. There they received a first-division trophy for the officers and the whole teams' performances. The duet teams of Suzie Conaway and Karen Selzer and Lisa Kessler and Mionne Devereaux both received blue ribbons. Devereaux also received a blue ribbon for her solo. The next competition was at the Dallas Convention Center put on by Superstar. There the officers received a first-division trophy for their jazz routine. In April, officer and line-member tryouts were held. Suzie Conaway CCapt.J, Karen Selzer Clst Lt.J, Lisa Kessler C2nd Lt.J, Top: The Bluebelles end their high kick performance in an ur position.
