Girls' State 178 Karin practices the flute for band competition. Karin Baldino works on school computer. Participating in the 1986 session at Texa Bluebonnet Girls' State is a memory I will alway cherish. It is an honor and a privilege for which I ar grateful to the American Legion Auxiliary fc sponsoring me. The friends I made and the knowledg I gained are very important to me. The 10-day program gives girls from across the stat the opportunity to come together in a Mythical 51s state to learn more about the function of governmen and our responsibilities as citizens. It is a uniqu experience in which you learn-by-doing . City county, district and state governments are establishec elections held, and once elected the representative strive to uphold the duties of their office. While there I was elected Municipal Judge ani served as a member of the House of Repre sentatives. The days were always full. We did everything fror attending lectures to spending one day at the Stat Capitol where we met with many state legislators. I still find it hard to believe that over 580 girls cai come together, seeming to have nothing in commor but forming such a special bond. I met so many new friends and learned so mucl about government in such a short period of time, it i hard to believe it was possible. It will always be a par of my fondest memories. Karin Baldini
