O Sing, ye yo % fW-et her praises risf Crowned with majesty Hail to Forbes Road High. Neath the dome of heaven’s wonder, ProucLshe lifts her head, Mingred with the clouds of glory Flushed with victory red. Sing, O Sing, ye youths and maidens Let her praises rise; Crowned with majesty and honor Hail to Forbes Road High. Dear Mr. Sprowl, We the senior class of 1987 are dedicating our year- book to you. You have been more than just a teacher, you have been our friend. Like many members of the senior class, you enjoy hunting and fishing. You are usually to be found in the woods, fighting the bears. Science classes were more ex- citing with your tales of hunting adventures and your years as a student. Not only do we have common interests, but we have been pioneers at this school. You were a member of the first graduating class and we were the first kindergarten class. You have done many things for students here at Forbes. Being a junior high basketball coach you showed the boys team work and how to trust each other. You showed the students on the Environmental Olympics and ECO Meet teams how to relate with the environ- ment and ways in which to save the environment. We would once again like to thank you for all your support and thoughtfulness through the years, not for just us the seniors but for the entire body here at Forbes. We will always remember you. Love, The 1987 Seniors Larry, Eric, and Sue Truax We, the senior class, are making a special dedication to you, our senior class advisors. You have put up with us through all the good and bad times we have experienced. We would first like to thank Mr. Fleck for always trying to advise us on what you though would be best. Mr. Fleck, your mathematical genius has allowed us to save the money to go on a class trip and to be able to afford our yearbook. We would also like to thank Mrs. Truax for creativeness with the pre-prom preparations. And for always being a friend. Without these two people we would not have been able to accomplish the many things that made our years here at F.R.H.S. memorable. Love, Your senior class QFIO Grammies A Year in Music This year we wanted to try something different with the yearbook. We wanted a theme that everyone could relate to and has their own opinions about. For these reasons we choose the GRAMMIES. Music surrounds us. Everywhere you go or whatever you do, music is there. Businesses use music to appeal to their customers such as advertising and entertainment. Throughout the yearbook you will realize that we have used music for each of the many topics. We hope you will enjoy this edition of the yearbook as much as we have putting it together. V deo Forbes Road 1987 Grammy Winners Rock Group Female Country Vocalist 1. Bon )ovi 1. Barbara Mandrell 2. Our half days soon turned to full days without naps and snacks. And our full days soon turned into years which brought us up to our graduating year. The class of 1987 was the first kindergarten class who has now turned into the graduating class. We have en- joyed our many years here at Forbes, and we would like to thank Mrs. Anderson for starting those years out right. There are things in a senior’s past at F.R.H.S. they will never forget. For us it was the half days, naps, snacks, and the many enjoyable games. Such as Heads Up Seven Up, Doggie and the Bone, and Mr. Peemoony. These were all favorable memories for all and the begin- ning of a lasting friendship. George Hann Fred Black Clyde Brant “Guidance plus Physics equal Mr. Bersktresser.” “One, two. three, four, one. two. ready go.” “Another day, another dollar.” Teacher Candids 55 Mondays are one of the most frightful things that a student must face. Once a week it hits. An un- predictable phenomenon, Mondays quite often strike when you least expect, like right after a great weekend with the gang, or one so full of homework and studies that you truly doubt life could possibly get worse. The effects of Mondays vary greatly from person to person, but whether it be mildly embarrassing such as giving the correct answer for the wrong question, or down right irritating like locking your keys in your car; have no fear Tuesday’s around the corner. 56 c Staying after school, rushing around and hard work are some of the tasks that are involved when you join a club at Forbes Road. Clubs are a central part of our school’s environ- ment. Many of the students are involved in more than one club. This makes a very hectic schedule for some. These clubs usually pro- vide some kind of fun for students, such as dances, and selling everybody’s favorite, can- dy!! We would like to thank the advisors for making everyday not just another school day. Sitting: Elizabeth Yetter and Teressa Barnett. Co-Editors. 68 We, along with our advisors and the staff, have spent endless hours compiling the reflections of our lives in 1987. We tried to capture those memories that were special to us. We feel very proud to have been part of making this yearbook what it is. The amount of work and organization needed to create a successful yearbook was the roughest part. All of our free time was devoted to designing a different layout, thinking of songs related to the topic, atten- tion grabbing headlines and writing original write-ups. We would like to thank our advisors, Mrs. Krissie Early and Mr. Phillip Keim. Krissie — for your endless hours of checking pages and taking pictures. Mr. Keim — for helping a troubled staff member and helping with the many write-ups. We would like to say, Thank You for your time and advice. We hope that everyone enjoys this edition of the yearbook. We have tried our best to capture lasting memories for all. We would like to wish our classmates all the good luck and happiness that this world has to otter. May all your dreams come true. But if you’ve ever watched our sports, you’ll agree that we excel in everything we do. The athletes strive to be the best they can be. They are encouraged by family, teachers, fans, and coaches. And because of this our program is such a success. That Cardinal spirit is still shining through. Field Hockey Kneeling: B. J. It was also a year of juggling positions. The goalie position was played by more players than in any other season in the history of Forbes Road field hockey. A record was also set by a single player scoring more goals (4) in a game than ever before. This player was B. J. Taylor. The varsity team also established themselves as the season progressed as a major com- petitive threat to the league by shutting down the Keystone League main contender Southern Huntingdon; ending a two year undefeated season. That's What Friends Are For by Dionne and Friends Many of you here at FRHS know her as Heidi Horne. We. the Class of 87, know her as a friend. She has been with us for many years. Even though she hasn’t been here in body, she has been here in spirit. She has been a part of our class for several different years. She was in our class during 4th, 8th, and 9th grades. This past year she visited with us for a couple of days over the Christmas holiday. While she has been here over the years she has explained some differences between the US and Haiti. She told us that at the age of 13 you can get your driver’s license. They do not nave policemen nor radar stopping people. You can drive on any side of the road. They do not have any speed limits either. Another dif- ference is their clothing styles. In Haiti, there is a lot of competition to see who is in style the best. Heidi is now class president in Haitian school. She is an A student. She also tutors several students in Algebra and Geometry. Heidi has recently been accepted as a freshman at Shippensburg University for the fall semester. She will major in International Marketing.
