XXXIII. Miss Nolan on right WHERE ARE YOU? I’m a handsome devil; ain’t I?!? WHERE ARE YOU? I was wandering aimlessly through the halls looking for the one person who could solve my problem. Time was running out. and I knew that I had to find him FAST! The future ot my education depended upon it. The problem you ask? The typical jammed locker. In desperation. I ran back to my locker and began to kick it furiously. Then. I saw him. I pushed through the mass of students, and as usual, when I told him my problem, he replied. Ohh . . . where's it at' Within minutes, my problem had been solved. Now, you may be asking. 'Who is this do-gooderHis name is Bob Brown. This is only one of his many duties. He is an opener of lockers , a sweeper of floors , a handy man , and. above all, a friend. No matter the time of day. he always has a smile to brighten your day. Bob, we, the student body of FR. would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all that you've done for us over the past 12 years. We ll miss you. Bob! We wish you the very best that life has to offer! Happy Retirement!!! Robbie Sain and Patti Downin (our class midgets) tend to be quite a bit smaller than Tom Cochran and Bradley Mellott (our class giants). The cheeriness of the rainbow comes through the faces of our best smilers, Rachael Warfield, and Terry Downin. Valerie Zittle and Joe Berkstresser radiated con- stant friendliness through our high school years. On the other side of the rainbow. Dawn Nally and Kristie Kennedy are our class's most argumentative. The silence (what little there is) is due to Selena Knepper, Mike Worthing and Bryan Sipes. Michelle Henry and Kristi Clark weave the colors together with their spectrum of conversation, and more conversation, and more . .. The two most prominent colors of any Forbes Road class are blue and gold. Chip Miller, Harlan Berkstresser. and Kerry Strait (our most spirited) are always ready to wave that blue and gold for our most athletic — Robin Black and Damon Schoen. Everyone needs comic relief, and the class of 1985 always turned to Tish Henry and Kevin Roberts for it. Our storytellers,Joey Helser and David Keebaugh, can almost make you believe that red is blue, or that blue is red. 26 -’ERENT AS THE (AINBOW . . . 27 FINDING OUF IN THE SAMI Our two best dressers are Michele Newman and Chris Ritchey. They always enhanced our spectrum. Those whose lives are the most colorful are probably our class party-goers — I.ori Hann and Matt Downes. That picture would not be complete without Steve Duvall and LeighAnna Brill, our hard-rockers. Leaving their marks on the roads are Max Yablonski, Terry Brant and Donna O'Banion, 1985 s class racers. The Class of 1985 has its more social people, too. Robin Hann and Charlie Clippinger are our class flirts. On the darker side of the rainbow, Joyce Pack is always finding trouble, but Lisa Dodson always follows close behind to cheer those teachers up. A rainbow can always expand, and new colors can be born. We've had three new colors added in the last year or so... Deb Panfile, Sherri Sheeder, and Fred Pittack. Most of the colors Glenda Benson saw were from her textbooks as she is our most studious student ... 28 MEASURES 'OT OF GOLD . . . White was a prominent color for three of our classmates; newlyweds Missy Boisvert - Souders, Karen Saylor-Lake, and Tina Sipes-Skiles. Kathie Strait and Ricki Kohr are preparing themselves for khaki green as Ricki heads for the USMC and Kathie, the Army Reserve. Perhaps closest to their pot of gold are Nick Hyle and Lisa Hoffman, 1985's most likely to succeed. Three of our students are broadening their horizons by attending Vo-Tech: Kevin Roberts. Kent Stains, and Rick Witter. Like a rainbow, our beginnings are on the horizons, but our destinies fade into the future . .. 29 32 35 S8 40 42 43 44 45 46 47 I z oo 50 -i Z Mr. James Heroux Principal Jane Broadwater Adele McQuait Glenda Hoffman PEOPLE BEHIND THE RAINBOW 2 § O 50 C Melvin Barber Neil Berkstresser Fred Black H. Managers 58 Joyce Pack — Inside Forward — C. Parsons The 1984 field hockey season proved to be unique in a number of ways. First, it was a starting over sport for girls. Secondly, the season was held in the fall. Many started with great anticipation, but dropped the whole idea of playing the game when the season started in mid-August. Thirdly, the number of players who were willing to start the sport and continue with it were few. The hockey coaching staff and Forbes Road High School are proud of the durable dozen — an appropriate name for show- ing the initiative, determination, and willingness to give their time and skill for the future of girls' sports at Forbes Road! The yearbook staff worked long and hard hours in order to make your ideas become reality. At the yearbook meetings, it was hard to concentrate when Mrs. K. constantly yelled, Tomorrow is the deadline,” and Mrs. Hummel constantly said, Are you sure you're doing that right?! The worst part of all was listening to both advisors yell, Kathie get over there NOW , and Katherine, you have to make sure these pages are done. I am sad to see the yearbook come to an end. It was difficult, at times, but I can honestly say that the entire yearbook staff met their challenge well. I hope you enjoy this yearbook. It holds all the memories of our senior year. In years to come, we will reflect upon this yearbook and see the Class of 85 stand out with pride! 104 105 RAMADA INN The Newest Hotel Facility in Bedford County ... They had a lot of fun and got on many rides with us!!! KISSING TOWER 133 Vol. X X X V L No. 1 Harrisonville, Pa. 1984-1985 SI 3.00 F R. COMMUNITY EXPLORERS What does it mean to be a senior business student at Forbes Road High? This year it meant that you were given the opportunity to spend your afternoons for two full weeks working for a business in the community. The students mailed letters to prospective ■employers’’ explaining the program. These young ladies would not be paid for their services rendered. The girls participating in this event were Michele Newman, Kristi Kennedy, Robin Black, Missi Souders, Selena Knepper, Valerie Zittle, Karen Lake, Fatty Downin, Lisa Hoffman, Michelle Henry, Glenda Benson, and Lisa Dodson. FHA Banquet This year Forbes Road hosted the FHA annual banquet for the Fulton County Chapter. The event took place at the Hustontown Fire Hall. The evening was comprised of skits, a raffle, and a 3 course meal. The highlight of the evening was a musical presentation and a teen talk given by Miss Pennsylvania, Gina Majors. Voice lessons for eight years helps Gina with her singing abil- ity. Mr. Sprowl took his Jr.-Sr. Chemistry class and ventured to the Nuclear Reactor Site at the Penn State University Campus. The students observed a nuclear reaction in a swimming pool reactor. They were lectured on nuclear waste and during this lecture, Mr. Sprowl expressed some views of his own. Iiighlights of the trip were eating at the Hl’B and getting ice cream from the cam- pus creamery. WHAT?! You mean we re not gonna be radioactive and glow in the dark! Make a wish Jane. Up the DOWN Staircase The spring play was presented by sopho- mores, juniors, and primarily seniors. The play was about a high school teacher, por- trayed by Michele Newman, who was faced with her first year problems that accompany teaching. A special thanks goes to Mrs. Komir from the cast members for sticking it out. Student Forum — What is it?” Well, as Joe Berkstresser will tell you. it's getting a day off school, eating pizza for lunch, and hopes of becoming a black belt in KARATE. Actually, Student Forum is a group of students from various school districts banded together to voice their opinions of the student bodies they represent. Their input on matters is then sent to the Pennsylvania Education Board in Harrisburg where they can decide matters on education looking at it from the students point of view. This year s members were Joe. who was the vice president. Aimee Hann. Mike Hall, and Michele Black. Nick Hyle is a Different kind of senior at Forbes Road High. 9 He spent his senior year of high school as a fresh- man at Mont Alto. Nick was distinguished as Forbes Roads’ first National Merit Scholarship recipient. College life for Nick is vastly different from high school. .. he was involved in such activities as the Medieval Day Festival. Student Activities Council, Honors Freshman Composition, PARTY CITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
